Well I started with a dwarf rogue and got him to level 2. I was basing him off of an old build it seems and was going to take him to 10/6 rogue ranger. After talking a friend in game I'm thinking of either going 18/2 rogue/fighter or 18/2 fighter rogue. Either way the first 2 levels will already be rogue based. any suggestions?

first off there are other colors then red. you want a good base color first. then you want to start discussing how to fix you ROGUE!

As one player trying to fix a character to another... Your character only Level 2? If so, then don't be afraid to restart as Level 2 is maybe an hour.

The Fighter with Evasion (18 Fighter/ 2 Rogue): Don't think you can screw this up too badly. Ideally you'd start with Rogue then Level as a Fighter for a bit then Level the other Rogue later (I usually see level 8 or 9). You're getting a little damage boost with sneak attack ability, but you won't have the skill points to do any Rogue skills.

The Rogue with Feats (18 Rogue/ 2 Fighter): Extra hit points (+8 total), Access to all weapons and armor (although you only get evasion with light/cloth armor), and extra combat feats. A much more combat capable rogue, lots of skills still. Access to the third rank prestige classes (Assassin 3).

Your original path (6 Ranger/ # Rogue): Tempest I, Bow Strength, Improved Two Weapon Fighting (ITWF). Its a solid DPS build. You get more weapons, lots of synergy between the classes (can maintain you skills in Hide, Move Silently, Search, Spot). Most of the two weapon fighting chain free. Even access to Ranger wands without needing UMD (even more skill points better used or stats redistributed).

The only reason I didn't do Ranger/Rogue was that Ranger/Bard had more, character.

Sorry about that the long response time.
str 14
dex 15
con 12
Int 14
wis 10
Cha 10

It was the first toon so played around with it.

I took evasion as my feat at 1. I maxed balance/spot/search/pick lock/tumble/move silently/ and have put points into hide/Diplomacy/Bluff.

My enhancements are Dwarven Armored Agility I/Dwarven Tactics I / Rouge Haste I

I took evasion as my feat at 1.

No, No you did not. You took Something else as a feat at level 1, and you recieved Evasion as a Bonus "Feat"(its really a class ability) at level 2 rogue, as all Level 2 rogues gain evasion.

-chuckles- It seems that I have already destroyed him and hes only level 2. SO I guess delete and start over huh?

not really. if you are going 2rge/18ftr there is no compelling reason to take a second rouge rogue level later except some minor survivability. and i mean *very* minor survivability. getting evasion at level 2 i think may actually be better than getting the extra HP, DPS and BaB that a ftr would give you, for example. it will all even up when you would have taken the planned 2nd rouge level at 8 or 9 (or whenever you planned). i would be more worried about the 12 starting CON.

as long as rouge rogue was taken at level 1 you should be fine. just remember to play him as a rogue and not a tank until the fighter levels start to kick it.

and that works for just about every 2/rge splash.
