Hey everyone,
I'm a new player to DDO, I am currently waiting for the download to complete. Over the last year and a half I've been machinimating with the World of Warcraft game engines and I am looking for new ventures and engines to create videos with. I was wondering what everyones thoughts were on machinima and Dungeons and Dragons Online, is it worth a go or just a waste of time?

As a Red vs. Blue fanatic with little time to create, but lots of time to watch Machinima, I have seen a few done with DDO. I think more would be awesome!
DDO needs more Machinima!!!!!

Welcome to DDO!
Regarding your question: Yes, yes, a million times yes! We love this kind of thing.
If you do create any DDO videos, please email a link to ddo@turbine.com so that we can feature your video in our weekly community update, The Eberron Chronicle (http://my.ddo.com/turbinecommunity/). Scroll down the page I've linked to see some of the past ones.
We look forward to seeing your work. :)

Lots of good possibilities for Machinima in DDO. And lots of places where people will be interested in showcasing your work!

yes, yes and yes please!
In DDO the avatars a a bit wooden as actors as they don't have any facial expressions
and limited emotes. Maybe this would make a nice shop item to purchase more animations.
If you want to see some of the most fun examples in DDO check out Wandering Monster (http://www.youtube.com/user/wanderingmonster?blend=2&ob=1)
on Youtube.

What do you, or others, use to capture their in game footage?

I use Fraps, personally, and Nero for editing.

I would say Fraps is probably the most popular- and you can download the unregistered version - although it leaves a fraps banner and limits you to 30 secs per recording.
It captures well and I've not had any problems with it.
There are other free video capture software but I've never tried them, e,g, wegame and gamecam.
For editting I use windows movie maker (yes it is buggy but it's so easy to use!) and sometimes wax.

I heard Tolero HATES player videos :p
THe real question is that Tolero never got her intercom system installed on Thelanis and now is bitter about that.

Fraps is great, well worth the money for it if you plan to capture in-game video (for all games, not just DDO.) I also just use Windows Movie Maker for my editing. But my videos are more gameplay rather than machinima.
