I wanted to play around in VoD with my fighter.
Only got one deathward clickie of 6 minutes.
Is there anything besides a festival cookie that can give me a much longer dward or do I have to run tangleroot a gazillion times to get like 10 of them?
They should really sell scrolls of them dang it.
The only thing I have not figured out as far as soloing it is the dang bats at the end.
Unless I can jump up on suulo's head to get away from them... :)

It's in the end reward list: Visor of the Flesh Render Guards. Bound to Account, min level 5.
I like to keep 3 so that 6 people can get covered when I shrine. But I am a bit clickie-intensive :)

What do you do when the first guy's d/w runs out four minutes after you cast the last guy's? :p

Invite a Cleric or FvS for Death Ward, Mass.
Problem solved.

Fireshield, fire resist, fire prot (continuously), haste...then run around like an idiot swinging like a madman, firing a bow, or, if a caster, casting force missle.

Bloodplate or deathblock robe, plates may cost a bit high but robes seem to drop in cereal boxes.
(though at lower levels the visor is still the only option)

or if you can swap out the necklace item while in there you can run the necropolis stuff and upgrade your silver flame amulet I think anything past the first upgrade gets you permenant death block and absorbs 5 charges of negative energy and the third up grade gets you 10 levels. But its perma death ward on a necklace which is nice I swap to it a lot.

deathblock does not stop de-leveling that suulo does.
Only deathward can do that.
As a tank, with all the mobs, I assume it wold take quite a while, especially the first time, to solo that raid.
I just do not want to farm a gazillion render guards. I know there were some festival cookies that did it, perhaps trading for a few might be worth it.
Those bats...
I think I would need some returning throwing axes of mettaline/puregood (which i have never seen) so that I could get through his DR while running like a little girl from the bats.
A few bats and you are down though....wonder if scarabs help versus their attacks?
The idea is to not go through a ton of rare materials to solo it with a fighter.
but without very long deathwards, it is impossible (unless maybe ranging the entire time, don't know his range on deleveling).
I could bring lots of restoration scrolls though...and de-levels do come back over time. But that could make it a long dungeon indeed.

there is no item I know of that gives permanent deathward (would be the most impresive peice of loot to own).
I think you mean deathblock which is a very different spell/ward.

the visor is an end reward choice ... normally shows up at least 1/3 the time.

For the bats you're just going to have to get as much fire mitigation as you can. Resist, fire shield, maybe some greaves. Their damage isn't THAT high, so those three things should take it down to near nothing.
And the cookie dw is... 10 minutes I think. Not much of an improvement over 7. Just get a half dozen of the tr clickies.

if you are alone and melee-ing suulo, there are lots of bats.
And since there is only one person for them to center on....whoopsie
(no greaves)...fireshield is a scroll and arcane failure can happen, only last a minute 20 seconds.
I am liking the idea of running away, throwing a nice greensteel min II axe, while healing and buffing up against the bats.
I just see them all coming to me at once with no way to stop them...imagine 10 or 15 just hitting you and exploding...yikes.
kinda sad the only thing my fighter is really worried about is the bats. Methinks the video will be really cool until that point...then I will die...HA HA HA HA

Summon a pet, it should last all of 5 seconds . :p
You can get the fireshield (cold version) on the ice cloak that has 3 clickies on it to avoid the arcane failure.
You can use the Maralith cookie for BB, as well for them. Not sure how effective that would be.

Something many people do not seem to know about is the collectibles the mobs drop in the first Necro Series can be traded in for scrolls of deathward and FoM. Of course you can get other things too, but they are on the list of things you may get.
Extremely easy to farm as well. Note it's only the collectibles the monsters drop...not the ones u get from stuff like adventurer packs, moss,....etc.
This is the only series that drops them as well.....Necro 2 & 3 DO NOT.

somehow I knew one day I would have to do those quests again for some reason.
I will look into that, if I do not shoot myself in the head again for having to do it.

isn't the visor bta nowadays? just send all you got to your melee guy. finish the job and send em back. with the 4 chars i created on thelanis i got 10 visors in 12 runs. on the other hand i did not get a carnifex in like 18 delera runs :/

Fire resist is not ablative. Fire shield is not ablative. Firestorm greaves are not ablative. If you can negate the damage from one, you can negate the damage from a dozen, or a hundred.
The scroll will last 1:06. How many waves of bats are there?
And if the chance to fail bothers you, go run VoD in a party until you get the Glacial Bracers. 10% chance to cast a 1:30 fire shield when struck.
And yes, the visors are bta now. If you have any lowbies you want to level go do TR over and over, and send the visors to your fighter. Yeah you could farm TR with anyone, but if you were going to level em anyways you might as well multi task.

all my toons are old. They have the visors (some more than one) all bound to character.
They decided to give the shaft to all earlier players and ignore that tidbit.
I would have to refarm even though between all my toons I have a bunch...lame.

it is the last wave that wipes parties that concerns me, the rest are a joke.
10 or 20 bats hitting for what? A 100-150 each.....while chained. While being attacked and beat?
Don't think it will be easy with a melee fighter at all.
necropolis gives collectibles that get you scrolls of freedom of movement and deathward
I looked online and at the wiki. This appears to be knowledge hidden from everyone else.
You sure about that?

100-150 each. I forgot how absorb interacts with resist. But with those three items you're either looking at 100-150 / 2 / 3 * 2 - 30 = 3.5-20.25 or 100-150 - 30 / 2 / 3 * 2 = 23-40. And there is also a save for half, yes? If you're saving most of the time, and you should be it becomes 50-75 - 30 / 2 / 3 * 2 = 6-15 under the worst case scenario and a passed save.

all i would have would be the scrolls and a fire resist....
not sure how absorb works, before or after or not at all inconjunction.
I don't remember seeing a 'save' roll for the bats.
I have seen them take down half the party as soon as they pop...would be interesting to see how long you can last with all of them hitting you at once or close to it..
I really do not know how much damage they do...it may be much less. Have to log/record the whole thing better next time.

Did you bother much with the Ice games? There were random potions from that that gave a fire shield-type effect (for about a minute and a half, but much easier to pop off than scrolls mid combat).
And I will have to look into this possibility of FOM/Deathward scrolls. Think I have a couple hundred of Necropolis collectibles on one server, can't remember which.

Well, it's hard to tell with the chaos. But whenever I run an evasion character in there I rarely take damage. When I run my sorc (fire shield and resist) I regularly take small amounts of damage from each explosion.
Assuming it is 100-150, and that sounds about right to me then it would either be 20-45 or 35-60 on a failed save and 0-7 or 10-22 on a successful save. That's going to hurt a lot more obviously.
I dunno. I'm not sure of the exact numbers. I am curious of your findings though, so if I can help you get to that point in the first place I'm all for it.

He's talking about the Silver Flame necklace from the Necropolis series, which does give Ablative deathward. That is it gives you upwards of 10 charges that block effects blocked by deathward.

Um she lol and Mr. Wizard is right that it gives Death block instead of death ward but the negative energy absorbtion on it is a nice thing to have and almost all my alts have theirs at either 5 or 10 charges. Then once the charges run out if they do you can then use your death ward clickies.
So you were right about the death ward part but the necklace can still save you a head ache in there.
