I'm trying to decide between:
17/2/1: 9d6 sneak dmg, extra feat from fighter
15/4/1: 8d6 sneak dmg, 2 extra feats (weapon spech ranged+bow strength)
Either way I go ill put my AP in sneak dmg and the entire AA line
seems to me like the second alternative is better but I would love some input as its the first time I'm trying to make a decent ranged toon.

This toon will be using a RadII bow for anything but rednamed and silver for non-blindable/nonsneakable(I know lightningII would be better dps but I don't have larges for 2 dual shard bows right now).

Another thougt: if i go 15/4/1 is it worth putting levels on dex or will i have enough to hit with 18+2+6 dex, that way i could put levelups on str and amp up my dmg a bit.

you know that sneak dmg is reducet to small area, not sure what distance but i think couple of feets so youre sneak dmg wouldnt do much if you are far away

That kinda sucks. But it might still be fun as i could get a few ranged sneak attacks and a chance to blind.
also in some epics ill be close enough to get SA with the bow(first room wiz king and the house D quests for example).
The build will have enough feats to take twf, itwf and gtwf or otwf so it will hopefully not suck in melee(tho I don't think i have room for PA)

Just a note, if you are AA and taking fighter 2 just for the feats. You might want to consider ranger 2 instead.

Ftr 2 - 2 feats, 1 str enhancement
Rgr 2 - Bow Strength, Rapid Shot and TWF

25 ft- dangerously close for a low ac/hp toon in the realm of ddo. spamming radiance effects would be MUCH more effective via a melee weapon. no personal experience with aa, but it seems rather effective in large explorer areas and the like, but gets real hairy in close combat- as in not worth it hairy.

oh yeah. took for granted that you planned for 6 ranger- which would net you manyshot, imo requisite for viable dps (at least in bursts) on a build like this.

If you just want a trapmonkey archer, Ranger 12/ Fighter 6/ Rogue 2 is probably your best split. You get most of the ranged feats from Ranger, you get Weapon Specialization and Kensai I plus some extra feats and Haste Boost from Fighter and Trap skills unlocked and a little bit of Sneak Attack damage from Rogue. With the 12 Ranger levels you shouldn't have much trouble keeping your skills up and with all your bonus feats you should have plenty of room for Mental Toughness. Any casting you lose from dropping Sorcerer should be replacable with UMD. This build is also much less MAD.

yeah i didnt press in sorc for the casting, its only for being able to take AA(needs sp/sp ehancement or feat). Not after a trapmonkey, I want ranged dps/survivable solo play.
The thing I wasn't considering when thinking it up was the fact that i need to be in point blank range.
If i hadn't been blatantly wrong about that point this build would have been a huge dps ranged build with all the sneak dmg.

As it is maybe 12/6/2 fighter ranger rouge is better :)
