This is the way it works in PnP, so let's see if anybody can convince me otherwise.

In pnp, any random die roll portion of a spell can be both maximized and empowered. For example, Ray of Enfeeblement: you may maxmize/empower the D6 roll, but not the +X bonus for caster levels. Enervation: You may maximize and empower this spell. Cloudkill: you may maximize/empower the CON damage from the spell. Energy Drain: various PrE's can get this cast with both maximize and empower.

Thoughts? Ready, set, debate!

I don't see why not. I also think wording like 'gives a X% boost to the spells effectiveness' should apply to everything the spell has. Range, duration, dice values, boosted values, etc.

It's not like the enemies are short on hp and saves, right?
