What happened with the DX11 update? I still see all sites that talk about DX11 games listing DDO and Lotro as going DX11 in Q1 of 2010. As Q1 would have ended at the end of March, this is clearly not accurate.
Any Dev that can shed some light on this? will update 5 include dx11??
Buellher?
EDIT: Update 7 is supposed to contain DX11

Yah, I'm curious about what's going on with this as well. Rather looking forward to seeing what the DX11 improvements do for this game.

Keep in mind that Q1 announcement was made by AMD, not Turbine, and never confirmed by Turbine. I've long suspected that the announcement was aimed at bringing in venture capital for AMD more than it was about announcing an actual product. I could be wrong though.

Generally it is a bad idea to mention another companies product to promote your own when you have not gotten them to sign off on it first...

Are there even enough DX11 cards on the market to really make it worth Turbines time? are enough users running DX11 capable cards?

What exactly do you expect from a DX11 upgrade and why do you care? Do you work for microsoft?
You need to realise that currently every graphical feature available in DDO is possible in DX9.
The only reason they purposely restricted a couple of them to DX10 is because of marketing deals with M$ to encourage more gamers to buy the utter failure that was Vista. It has nothing to do with limitations of the API, everything you see in DDO in DX10 mode, is available in other games in DX9 mode.
The simple reason it exists is because Turbine and Microsoft are business partners. Hell MS used to be the main publisher for the only game - Asheron's Call and they sold the whole thing back to Turbine for probably a good price.
W11 isn't so terrible so MS doesn't need to push as hard. Plus DX11 has nothing an older gamel ike DDO could benefit from. They'd need to redesign the engine from the ground up to have any real impact.

All of the ATI 5xxx series are DX11 compatible, and I think Nvidia is now also.
(just bought a 5770 last week.., hence the post..)

I thought that officially DDO doesn't support windows 7 either, which I would've thought would be more of a priority.
Doesn't bother me either way since Im not budging from XP until either I absolutely have to, or until microsoft issue an actual upgrade path that doesn't involve reinstalling everything else as well. And that means I'm stuck with DX9 anyway.

you're talking about the engine in regards to tessellation - even if dx11 was existent in ddo the engine is "outdated" so to speak (don't get me wrong, i love how it looks) and it'd take a brand new game engine for full dx11 benefits to be prevalent. It's not as as simple as "let's get dx11, now we get these features built in!" - there's only a select few game engines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_DirectX_11_support) in the market atm that even support games on dx11, and those are games that take ungodly powerhouses to max out. It does say ddo support will be released, but don't hold your breath for anything that completely changes how the game looks.
to be honest, there's not even that much change with dx10 atm, aside from some dynamic shadows and lighting.
as much as I'd love to see the game with dx11 features, that's sorta wishful thinking :)
