Marilith Chain states it has DR 5/Good or Lawful. How effective is this versus DR/epic or DR/-? I am guessing that Lawful damage is not done by every lawful aligned monster out there (there is quite a few of them). Does anyone know how many monsters do lawful or good damage?
Thanks

I wear it on a couple chars.. But being they each innately already have more then 5 dr (barbarians), I can't really test it.
I do know per pnp rules and this usually translates to ddo... Monsters that have a certain type of DR, can also bypass that type of DR.
So examples would be:
Most devils, have dr good, so would bypass it
Tharaak hounds, have dr law, so would bypass it
Seposedly anyways, if thats implemented ingame, I dunno. I can't test it.

That makes sense for metals on things like constructs. If a Golem is made out of adamantine they would both have DR/adamantine and be doing adamantine damage.
For alignment type damage I would assume it would be the opposite, Evil aligned being immune to everything but good damage. For example I could not picture Devils doing good typed damage but their overwhelming evil nature makes them immune to all but good typed damage.
I hope that makes sense, I'll have to look it up in my source books and see if I'm explaining it right.

DR/Good or Law can be bypassed by some creatures that are strongly good or lawful. That mainly includes Devils, but would also be Eladrin if they actually hit you in melee. An efreeti is also a lawful outsider, but not lawful enough for DR purposes. In PVP of course there will be a ton of good weapons out there.
