View Full Version : Lets make some noise about the AH, shall we?

Ok, to me this seems like a big win for everyone, and probably easier to implement then say a whole other expansion.

The AH is broken.

it's very hard to find what your looking for, *There is no search bar*

The pages are just mangled. When you order something by price, it should take into account the next 19 pages as well. However it just organizes the one page your looking at.

Prices, lol.

------------------------------------------

Fixes.

Overhaul the look of the AH, add a search bar that will search for a string.

Pressing the "buyout" or "current bid" box should organize all 20 pages by price, it should not just organize the page I am on.

Add a price range box, This is probably one of the reasons why there's a "+1 sword of mostly useless" selling for 150k gold right now. Because I'm forced to see it when I look for long swords.

I should be able to organize the whole list if items by prices, and I should be able to look for items within my price range. Not being able to look for an item by name is a joke, a disgrace even. This makes trying to find a price point for an item **** near impossible as your belt of ogre power is going to make 2 or 3 appearances on all 25 pages of belts.

------------------------------------------

I understand the prices are inflated due to a large amount of money in the game and a lack of money pits. But I also think it has something to do with the difficulty in finding the market price for an item.

If it's going to take forever to research a price for your sword, why not just throw it up for 200k? didn't sell? try 150k?

The AH is counter productive, and for all intensive purposes totally useless for a new player.

The AH should be a selling point for the game, something that makes people want to put some money in so they can unlock the ability to sell items. Instead it's a black mark that does nothing but harms new players opinions of the game.

If you have any idea's please post them, lets see if we can fix the issue.

No ideas? post anyway, even an agreement is enough to show that this needs to be changed.

Just import the AH from LOTRO, pretty much the same interface, just has much more functionality.

They have stated that they are working on the text search.

Hi Welcome to DDO.

The developers have already stated that an overhaul of the AH interface is in the works. As they are pretty gun shy about announcing development activity it is very likely this will come to pass.

Awesome first post!

Hopefully they can implement some of the upgrades seen in LOTRO into DDO.

the AH is chaos over here.

Has there been any Developer communication on the issue?

Have they ever stated that they know the AH needs some love?

Hi Welcome to DDO.

The developers have already stated that an overhaul of the AH interface is in the works. As they are pretty gun shy about announcing development activity it is very likely this will come to pass.

Fantastic!

A text search is only the beginning though...

I'm glad that it's already in the open that the current AH is truely a miserably place. And hearing that they're looking into it makes me hopeful for U5 ( did I get that right? Update 5?)

Thanks for the welcome!
I brought some friends with me too!
Told them they should this game out, as it's a little different and obviously rocks the best trial version available.

I spent my first few days grinding favor to unlock the catacombs, and then after hitting a wall there I decided to take a quick peek in the AH for some gear.

lol

I've already looked into things I would like to buy, sink a few $ to unlock some adventures. However since I'm very much a auctioneer style of player I won't be diving in until this is looked at.

I know that a massive amount of Plat in the overall economy is going to drive "+1 wooden swords of splinters" value up as people try and sell to the twinkers, but not being able to sort things by price range HAS to be a big factor too.

There should be a "Filter out the jokes" button.

As a new player, I was shocked to see a game of this age have such an amazingly broken AH.

This should have been addressed years ago really.

Yes, as xoowak and Cyr have stated, there has been Dev communication indicating that they have heard our concerns and are working on a total rework of the AH system, starting with the addition of a text string search, which we indicated is of utmost importance.

Is there any indication as to when we can be expecting this?

Obviously I'm not looking for a set date, as I know there isn't one, and setting an arbitrary due date is going to do nothing rush devs into putting out a lesser product.

I'm more then happy with it's done when it's done.

What I'm looking for is:

They started to talk about it when Update 3 came out, so if it's not this update 5, then it shouldn't be much later then 6.

Is there any speculation to this end?

as a side note.

I'm very surprised there wasn't an ongoing topic on the suggestions forum for this.
After using the AH ingame I laughed to myself thinking that I was going to give a number of suggestions that were already given to a 78 page thread.

They have stated they are working on druids and half-orks.

I take it they've been working on druids and half orcs for a very long time?

Druids? I only saw them say they're working on Half-Orcs. I have seen in no place anything about Druids...

Anyhow, back on topic, I don't understand what they're having such a hard time about with the AH functionality. IMO the more filters you provide less results the server has to return to the player, so you reduce network traffic. Unless their servers are running on an extremely tight processing margin (which might actually be the case), they should've had this ready ages ago...

As others have said, we were told AH changes, including a search function are on the way (I believe they said this year).

The one LOTRO function on the AH I'd love to see here is a "guild only" auction, preferably with a seperate posting limit. I'd be happy to post a bunch of stuff for 1cp buyout if guildies could use it, and it would just make it easier than guild chat (not everyone is on) or guild forums (not everyone has them, not everyone in a guild uses them, plus its a pain to maintain).

Full disclosure: I'm not in a guild.

The guild part of the AH as far as I'm concerned can wait.

First they should ready and deploy a legitimate AH, then work on implementing guild functionality.

As a side note for your issue, can you send mail to your guild? if you can send mail to your whole guild then you could broadcast "This weeks available items" or something like that, and then sell them when no one responds.

Thanks for the time frame comment too.
I'm pretty hopeful that the next update (I hear update 5 is coming soon?) will either address the issue, or it'll make it's way into the Coming up in Update 6 patch notes.

I see more topics about this.

I'll just bump this one back up to the top!
