Hello. A friend invited me to play DDO; I seem to have successfully installed the client on my Windows Vista system. However, when I get to the opening screen (after the intro video), there is no cursor. The page is responding to the mouse, because I can randomly move the mouse and accidentally end up on a selectable item. However, this is excruciating for creating a character. When I get to the "Looks" screen, I can't make any choices. I've tried the Tab key and arrow keys, but they don't seem to do anything. When I exit the game, my cursor is responding and displaying normally. Does anyone have experience with this? Your wisdom is appreciated.
Cheers,
Prot

very odd, try alt-tabbing or switching between window and full screen mode

Agreed, this happens to me on occasion also, esp with the new comp and windoze 7

I would suspect some fancy or special cursor is not working right or doesn't work in DDO. Do you have any other apps that create a special software cursor or have you installed any of the "cute" internet cursors?
Try rebooting, going to the "mouse" option in the Control Panel and selecting "restore default" under pointers. That might clear it up. You might also pull up install/uninstall programs and look down the list of installed apps to make sure you don't have some goofy cursor app installed that snuck in when you just thought you were getting free smileys or a toolbar or something. (Some of those "free" apps and toolbars can be the devil to remove though, you may need to do a Google search on how to uninstall if you find something.)

I rebooted and alt-tabbed, which brought back my cursor when I returned to the game window. Alas, my victory was short-lived. Next time I started up DDO, I was in full-screen and could not alt-tab out. No cursor. I don't have any cursor apps installed--it's a pretty new machine. (I use one at work to see the cursor better, but not at home; my 25-in. screen handles the vision issue.) The cursor works in WoW, Vanguard, and everything else I have. This is a mystery.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Alt-tab helped once. The cursor appeared when I went back to the window. I couldn't reproduce this when I logged in the second time. Nuts. Thanks for the suggestion.

Try Alt-Enter instead of Alt-Tab, it switches to windowed mode
