View Full Version : Adventure Packs for Clerics

I have a cleric now (lvl4), and am really enjoying it. I am completely F2P and unfortunately have spent my TP on purchasing the Monk class. I will probably start a new account and favor grind to gather some TP to purchase adventure packs (I think the packs would be more worthwhile if I'm going to continue playing a cleric).

So here's the question: which adventure packs would be good for a cleric? Good weapon/armor drops, undead, decent amount of quests, etc. Please keep in mind that I'll likely gather around 800-1000 TP, as I don't want to be grinding forever.

Thanks, Rhyno...

Since 800-1000TP can only grab 1 pack (or 2 if they are both cheap and on-sale), I would grab Necro 4. Has 5 quests 1 raid. The raid loot is very good for casters of all types (including clerics). The tome pages from Litany of the Dead (one of the quests in the pack) give you skiver which is a really nice item.

Always grab Gianthold and Vale if you can. You need them to get to level 20. Everything else just makes leveling faster and easier.

Thanks for the advice. Perhaps I'll break down and buy some points anyway. Since leaving WoW, I vowed not to spend any more $ on MMORPGs, but DDO is really fun (and I don't need to pay a monthly subscription if I don't want to).

Using a secondary account to grind for TP is fine but you can not transfer those points to your main account. There is another way though. Start a BS character on every server, a barbarian, monk, cleric, whatever. Use that first character on each server to get you TP. Never delete those characters. The reason is, all first characters made on any server gains a special bonus TP per favor more so than normal. Work to get favor on each one to 100 favor for now. You can make something like 500-600 TP I believe doing that.

When you got time you can jump on one and grind to 200 favor, then 300 another day. I have been getting alot of TP doing this and maxing out my favor on all my 10 characters on my main account/server.

As far as what quest packs to buy, I'd stick with getting mid to high level quests packs. Since the F2P quests and areas get harder to come by the higher level you get. GH, Vale and Necro IV(Orchard) are good ones with lots of favor in them. The idea is to get packs that have good favor within that you can then grind out all the favor in them for even more TP to be used to purchase other quest packs later on.

I have a link to how much each pack costs in TP with a list of how much each quest or quest pack will give you in total favor. And always buy packs once they go on sale every friday if you can, can save you a ton of TP if you do. If you do not have the TP for something on sale, just wait a few weeks and it will be back again. Enough time for you to grind out favor for it.

Make sure to read it all and make use of the "Table of Contents" links at the start of this thread here: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=198865

Heh - I started DDO f2p grinding on a bunch of clerics, picked up Tangleroot (mostly for favour and very quick access to the House P buffs), Delera's (Undead), then Necro 1-2 (Undead).

it wasn't until an elite run of Whisperdoom in House P that I caved in and bought some mana pots. From there it's been a slippery slope, buying almost every adventure pack, an account bank and culminating in buying the Monk class. Now I'm back to grinding favour and use my TP for guest passes on promising padawans :).

Anyway, doing it again I would start with Tangleroot again, Sharn Syndicate (the low level end rewards are very good, moreso if you have an account bank), grind those for favour-TP, then Gianthold, Necro 4 and Vale. However as Quanefel mentioned it's more important to get the higher level adventure packs than lower level content

Alas, to make full use of Monk you will likely need Necro 2 for the Devout Handwraps (metalline+pure good, bound to character - but the quest can be farmed without having to flag for it again).

I believe you are referencing the first-time favor rewards (per server). If so, there is no inherent link between any one character and the favor rewards. If I remember this correctly, it will also count total favor per server (i.e. all your characters combined total) for purposes of reaching the first time favor rewards.

At any rate, you get:

50 TP for hitting 5 favor (first time only)
25 TP for hitting 25 favor (first time only)
25 TP for hitting 50 favor (first time only)
25 TP for hitting 100 favor (standard rate)

for a total of 125 TP for hitting 100 favor (first time per server). 100 of those are "bonus" TP's. Assuming you have a "main" server, this means 6 "off" servers for 600 "bonus" TP's for hitting 100 favor. There's more first time bonuses available, but require a much larger time investment than 100.
