I've been looking for proof as well...hoping the the forums arent just messing with us. So far, I also have nothing. And the assumption that the Devs wont put in useless/broken/halfdone content has been proven wrong, so we cant assume either.

No such info has been "leaked". All of these crazy rumors are all just wishful thinking. Maybe with the new parent company comes more money for more developers. :o

The negative energy boosts that Pale Master receives are of minimal use at the present, as Chill Touch is the only recipient of the bonus, but there are several new arcane negative energy spells coming in update five, including an AOE that can be used to heal yourself in undead form, and the Skeleton Mage's aura of pain.
The spell levels haven't, but yes it has been said that neg energy spells are coming in Update 5 for arcane.

And by "crazy rumors" you mean "straight from the mouth of a developer" right?
If I wasn't feeling so sick and tired, I'd find the topic for ya. As it is, though, my throat is so tight I can't even speak clearly...
do a search for Pale master... you'll find the topic eventually... *flop*

This is the part about the spells:

In Update 5, the wraith form incorporeality being considered concealment will also be fixed, as will a bug that was preventing casters from being able to hit themselves with negative energy with AOE spells like Mass Inflicts.

Or you can see the post above yours by me, that had the quote from Eladrin posted 12 you can follow the arrow in quotes to go to the source, or you can follow the link that Arovin posted above this one leading to the same location.
But yes it's not just some 'rumor'

...I thought you were quoting the guy who called them rumors. Way to fail at reading, me.
I should not be on the forums when I'm sick. *flop*

One could hope that they introduce a negative energy AoE spell roughly equivalent to cloudkill or firewall in that it persists for a while and can be extended. Would actually give a very good reason for Pale Master PrE if it pumps up a negative energy AoE that the wizard could gobble up Amrath mobs with.
That or give all wizards a way out by introducing the physical damage spells we've been lacking.

Probably not going to happen but what would be really nice along those lines is the Energy Substitution/Admixture metamagic feats so that you can invest in a damage type of your choice, and still be able to use the main important spells. That way maybe everyone wouldn't be cookie cuttered into a Elemental specialist (every once in a while Force/Repair if WF).
Also, if they are going to introduce a Negative Energy line of spells I hope that it is accompanied by a similar damage specialization line of enhancements. Or would that make the Pale Master PrC too powerful?

The +2 DC on wail is fairly noticeable if you're soloing with it. Having a 42 wail makes IQ/DD completely trivial solo on elite. The big problem comes about with epic as all those feats and enhancements you put into Pale Master are completely and totally useless. Adding negative energy damage spells won't change that as mob HPs are so high you'll SP out before you kill 5% of the mobs with direct damage. Without things like Avasculate or Twin Spell, Energy Admixture and metamagic rods, wizards are for the most part stuck with hold monster and the occasional web, stun and firewall. The huge number of damage spells being pretty pointless.

There, fixed it for you. The majority of the HD, HP or summon related spells are pretty pointless. Undeath to Death? Sleep? Deep Slumber? Summon Monster <X> where <X> < 9? Scare? Fear? Create Undead (this was useful once upon a time)? , Power Word: Kill, Power Word: Blind, Power Word: Stun? Daze Monster? Grease (problem: can't be heightened)? Symbol of Death? Circle of Death?

Yes, this is sadly true, and one of the strengths of wizards, the ability to swap spells, is pretty meaningless. There aren't enough good spells TO swap to, so my spell list remains pretty static. It would also be nice if wizards could put in lower level spells in higher level slots. There are a lot of 2nd level spells that are hard to wedge in until resist energy gets made mass.
