Hello, I am currently leveling a Favored Soul and am able to pick a feat giving me 10 resistance to a number of elements, I was just wondering which would come in handy the most as I can only choose 1? Thanks in advance for any replies

Fire for your first one. You will be able to pick more later though.

Not everyone will agree on what to take, but I like fire, electric, and cold for mine. Acid and Sonic damage is generally in very small amounts so your 30 resists that you can just cast on yourself or get on an item should cover everything. Fire, electric, and cold often come in larger chunks so having that extra ten can be very helpful.

I definitely agree with this.
One possible reason to consider Acid, however, is the upcoming Epic version of Gianthold Tor. The Black Dragon there will presumably deal very large chunks of acid damage. But that's only one encounter (and not currently in game) and so isn't too critical.

I'd take acid as the level 5 choice. There are so many monsters at the lower levels that just spam the hell out of Melf's, that you are bombarded with small amounts of acid damage that this resistance puts a complete stop to. At that level, keeping up energy resistance is prohibitive against your SP pool, easier to just be immune.
Take fire as your level 10 choice, which means when monsters (particularly in Gianthold) start throwing burning blood at you, you'll be immune to THAT too.
At around level 15, take electricity, and swap the acid resist for cold with Fred (yes, the resistance feats can be swapped). By this time, you have enough SP and resist energy has enough duration that casting acid resist is no longer a problem. Plus at around that point, you start running into painful levels of chain lightning, ice storms, polar rays, etc, where being able to carry 40 points of resistance is quite helpful.

I took Lightning first, instead of Fire. The Fire at 10 and Cold at 15.
The reason for Lightning first (for me) is I spend a lot of time in the undead quests those levels, and the arcane skeletons like to use Lightning attacks a lot more than you'll run into Fire attacks.

Feat swaps are quite a bit more expensive than using Resist 10/20 wands for the low levels.

Use the free swap you get from Lockania.
With a reasonably well thought out build, it's the only swap you should need or want to make.

Thanks alot for the help on the three to choose, so I know to steer clear of Acid/Sonic now.

I took Acid so I almost never need to cast Acid Resist :p
But I agree on Fire/Lightning for sure.

That's not necessarily true. Many melee FVS builds take OTWF for the early levels and then swap it out for something like Maximize later on when the penalty isn't as annoying to deal with. There are many well thought out builds that require a feat swap later for various reasons.

Melf's is rather easy to combat -> just hotbar a wand, pot or clickie for when you get hit. No need to keep up a spell for that.
Casters in newer quests sometimes cast Acid Blast which can do more than 10 dmg, but that still doesn't outweigh the damage you will see from fire spells.
Actually, over the course of your adventures you will likely take more acid damage from oozes, spiders and rust monsters than you will from spells if you are looking for a reason to reduce acid damage.

I prefer to be immune to annoying small ticks of damage over time rather than worrying about what resists I need to cast..
As a Level 20 True Neutral FvS with Acid, Fire and Sonic resist
I have DR/10 against all Physical damage
I'm baiscally immune to Acid Arrow, Acid Splash, Acid Fog, Burning Blood and Orthon Repeaters.
30 or 40 resists against things like Chain Lightning or Polar ray simply dont add up. I would rather use my inherant resistances to aviod damage rather than suplement spells.
