If you are wielding a non light weapon in your offhand, how much of a penalty do you take? I am noticing that paladin twf builds posted on here are leaving this feat out. I'm trying to decide if that is wise. Thanks.

-2 to hit

I recommend not taking oversize twf unless:

1) You are having trouble hitting things (if this is really bad a reroll might be better)

or

2) You are using it to qualify for Ranger Tempest III (and I prefer lightning reflexes anyway)

In other words I would recommend that you not take OTWF.

OTWF or not depends on your Basic Attack Bonus your class gets, if you've a bab-tier 1 class getting 20 BAB you do not need OTWF (keep a small weapon in the offhand in the lower levels tough). Tier 1 are: Fighter, Barbarian, Ranger, Paladin

If you've a melee oritented build on a bab-tier-2 class that does TWF (15 BAB), O*** is often worth it. Tier 2: Rogue, Cleric, FvS, Bard (Monk, but he doesnt need it, he got fists anyway)

If you've a melee oriented build on a bab-tier-3 class (10 BAB) with TWF wanting two large weapons, you are doing something wrong :-). Tier 3 (10 BAB): Wizard, Sorcerer.

A few divine power clickies and anyone can have full BAB. :D

A fighter should also take OTWF as well, as he can afford it with his abundance of feats and because it helps a good deal on epic difficulty.

I could see it being worthwhile in this situation. Probably not the choice I would make, but I can see it.
