What, if anything, effects your luck with pulling a named item or better loot from a chest?

There's are a couple items in the DDO store for that.....not sure of any other items, aside from perhaps the Voice of the Master that helps boost your luck.

No.

Only the effective quest level and if you have a DDO store loot gem active. And these things don't actually affect your luck in pulling named items, they simply determine the loot level, which determines which loot tables are rolled upon. The only way to increase your chances of pulling a particular named item is to repeatedly loot a chest which drops that item (unless it is ransacked, in which case you have to wait until the ransack timer resets).

Thanks again Faux. I was told the voice and some other cleric spells that give luck bonus to saves, skills and such helped but that just didn't make sense to me. What you pull from a chest is not a save, skill or any of that so I didn't think it would help. Thanks for the clarification.

Sorry, after re-reading his question I realize what he's asking. I've spent countless hours with my luck bonus items farming quests to get that item.....the rate at which the item appeared seemd to be completely random. At times it was quick, others it took dozens of tries to finally get the item.

To get better loot, first cast bless on the chest and then walk around it three times counter-clockwise. Then have the lowest level person in the group open the chest.

I love the conspiracy theories concerning chest loot. 4 years ago there was this belief that one could Diplomacy a chest into giving you better loot LOL! I'm so not kidding. People actually believed that. Today, I heard.. Can someone bless the chest? its all so friggen rediculous. I'm not even convinced that the jewels work as intended. Oh well.. hearing someone ask the cleric to bless the chest does provide a good laugh at their expense.

I thought it was the person with the highest CHA... :D

Seriously, though, the only things that effect loot level are the items from the DDO store, and the only named loot that is effected by N/H/E are items like the Xachosian (sp?) Eardwellers and such that only drop on Hard/Elite. (because the required mobs only spawn at that difficulty, if I am correct - not sure because I never tried to get one)

-perhaps someone with more knowledge of the subject should explain the Eardwellers, so I don't confuse anyone...

So I should be getting a high CHA sorc to grease the chest after the cleric blesses it? Hmm.....now I know, and knowing is half the battle!
