Heya folks,
tonight i was doing some quests when in the middle of aquest my weapon broke, nothing rare in it self but what was strange is that it is gone as in, not in my inventory, hand or bag or anywhere.
as i was using it udring the quest (and it was locked) i definitely didn't vendor it.... so my question is, can weapons break utterly and disapear?
becouse that weapon cost me all of my gold :(
(+2 khopesh true chaos, undead bane)

Go to a shop and repair everything, if it doesn't show up I would put in a ticket.

Slightly off topic, but why is your weapon breaking not rare? I can't remember when one of my main weapons actually broke in a quest. Taking damage, yeah, sure. But not breaking or even getting to half damage. Were you using it to beat on slimes and rust monsters? If so, here's a tip to save your finances. 1 get a pair of handwraps. They dont take any extra damage from either. You can also use a pair of 1 cp clubs. They'll still take damage from slimes, but the're cheap to replace or repair.
In the medium term, try to pick up a muckbane or 2 and in the long term, some everbright weapons. Your pocketbook will thank you. Anyways, good luck with finding your weapon.

If the weapon had enough permanent damage (the red instead of blue) that it can no longer be repaired then it wil be destroyed. This sounds like what happened but with out screen shots there is no way to tell.

Once I had a weapon used until it was totally broken. It kept getting permanently damaged, until the final repair, it says weapon broken beyond repair. The item is totally red, durability 0, and says item damaged beyond repair, but it did not get destroyed.

i've used it on a ooze yes, not knowing it damaged stuff. since i've levered a bit more i found a everbright khopesh and am using that on oozes now, but i used the other as my primary weapen (even against non undead) as i dont have anything better :)
since i figured out oozes destroy armour and weapons i've had a lot shorter repair bill :P

this was my knowledge of an item as well, that even utterly destroyed it'ss till in your inventory and stays there unless you manually unlock and delete it... i did neither.
i'm hoping it's a invisible icon bug or some such but ****...

As a side note (which is in no way related to your question), I must suggest that you refrain from using slashing weapons (such as a Khopesh) on oozes, puddings, or slimes.
It's not such a big deal when they're baby oozes and are already as small as an ooze can get (because when they're that small, they can't be split), but when you attack larger oozes with that slashing weapon, you're going to split larger oozes into multiple smaller oozes, thus making even more monsters for you to deal with.
The full-sized oozes (as one single monster) have less hp's total than the total hp's you'll have spread across 4-6 smaller oozes (which will all start with full hp's when they are split from the original).

Items and weapons which are completely broken beyond repair still end up in your inventory.
... I will also note that shall you destroy an item inadvertantly dragging it off your character - you may buy it back from a general vendor.
To the OP, luckily you are Khyberian... and as such on the same postal system as I. ;) Also, come time soon I expect you to be making greensteel, when you start on such send a tell.

i expect greensteel to meet me in the next week.
i experienced more issues last night (A bracer of +4 Deflection AC was missing to) and i couldn't see strairs.
i ended up logging of in nerdrage mode.
@Cendaer aye, i've noticed that since i did the pit and above, but as i'm to poor to buy blunt weapons on top of khopeshesh i just go unarmed (ie:useless mode) on them.
do they still split if i user a everbright slashing?
Temko...go run Dirks Got a Secret...keep doing it until you get Muck to spawn...and get a muckbane club.
Problem solved.

here's a theory: Was your inventory full when your weapon broke? If so, when the weapon breaks, it unequips and with nowhere to go, I'm almost positive it ends up in Limbo. Sorry :/

@OP
if you are just on sarlona, i can share 2 muckbanes to you. I have 47 muckbanes scattered on 2 accounts. A main account which i play and a dummy account which i use to TP grind the main..
Durk is one of my stop in the run and if muck shows up. Both accounts will take a peek if muckbane is part of the loot.
I am constantly keep on sharing those muckbanes to lessen the load and technically killing muckbane farmers :D

this is a bug, normally when your inventory overfills stuff still is there, only showing up once you move anything out.

So then you lost a pair of Iron manicles also?
as for slime muck banes are easy to get, yes everbright slashers still split them but take no damage and every slime split is considerably weaker then the slime you split it from. Also you're a ranger - while arrows also split slime you never get close to one for them to hurt anything - so a bow actually works ok from a distance but take a little more time. ... and one thing I do about slime - am lazy I let others deal with the disgusting stuff. ;)

Buy clubs... very cheap. Or hunt down a Muckbane in Durk's.

Muckbanes are actually pretty cheap in the AH too.. (at least on thelanis)

Meh, Muckdoom hunting for the win. Plus, if you are a new player and want to make friends quickly, learning how to run & lead the Pit is a sure fire way to impress all sorts of pikers and make contacts in different guilds.
Then you can call yourself the "Emporer of the Pit" on the forums, hand out digital cookies, farm rep and win the internet!
...
****, I forgot what this thread is about. Oh, the kopesh. No idea why. Don't use weapons you like on oozes though. You didn't lose anything important though, thankfully.

Don't worry bout losing your weapon.
Just use a Couple +5 kopeshes untill you can find/afford something better than vendor trash.

with the gift of a great khopesh am able to dish out damage again and now my question is:
where do i go make LOADS of money as fast as possible at level 12?
the goal is to get money so i can buy the items i need (mithril breastplate +5, deflection cloak/bracers, +4 wisdom, dex and str items, bloodstone, etc..)

grinding the desert is probably your best bet, since you'll build cash as well as have chances of just finding some of the nice items you're looking for. Tempests spine is usually good too as theres a ton of chests & chance of the elemental mithral breastplate in the end chest its only +3 but it also has improved resistance to fire, cold & i think lightning too which can come in very handy & saves you worrying about buffing resistances for most situations
dont forget to turn in the antique broze token collectables too, +3 to +5 stat items are common on the regular not "superior" item option for that & if you arent using them yourself can often fetch nice prices in the AH

seems i'll be going into the desert for the first time tonight.
anything special i should know about it? other then "avoid dying"?
as for "antique broze token collectables", i've not come across these, where do they drop/who wants them?

to the west is the undead area and you'll get despair, which is kinda like a short paralyzing thing. Also, bring an disease immunity item and/or remove curse clickie/pots. Down the middle from the entrance are the gnolls, they paralyze fairly easy and are probably the best bet for a melee without a disruptor.
edit: The tokens drop in bags from anyone outthere, some dude in a house in Zawabi's retreat wants them. Don't bother until you have around 500.

Fire Resistance, Blunt Weapons, and a tactical approach to taking them on helps loads...
If you have an arcane in your friends list; that = easy button in that area.
Keep in mind that different creatures are vulnerable or highly resistant to certain damage types. If you are still in process of gathering enough gold for yourself; I'd suggest the weapons shop in House D. Visit it often, there are some really good deals on weapons that fit the bill in there off and on.

DO NOT repair 1cp clubs. When ur done with a quest if the have damage to it, destroy them and buy a new one to replace it. If u just did an elite quest with ooze in it I can guarantee u that club is going to cost in the 100's of gp's at least to repair.

Actually, repair cost is determined by the value of an item and can't exceed it. So to repair a 1 cp club, it costs 1cp, the downside of the cp being the cheapest coin. Technically, you might save a few copper by destroying each club and buying a new one. But for me, not having to redo my hotbars after every quest is worth it.
As for the desert, the nerfing of air elementals and Dungeon Scaling really made this a lot easier to solo. I could solo it pretty comfortably with a character that could self cast Cure Moderate. But I know the area pretty well and was only checking rares.
The first thing to get is a map. It can be tough to find your way around at times. Next, Fire Resistance 20 is a huge deal. Electric resist can be useful as well. For weapons, a Paralyzer is great, but probably not something you have. Holy works pretty well and you can bull some decent +3 and 4 items from chests there. If you have a low will save, the Undead area can be tough. The Gnolls should be ok as well as the drow, though their dispelling can be annoying. A Cleric hireling with Heal and maybe Blade Barrier should allow you to complete most of the rares once you figure out where all the spawn points and shrines are. I think it's mostly a matter of learning the area.

That is like so not true at all, unless I have a disply bug or something, it has shown way more than a 1cp repair bill for such a club when I go to repair my items...especially on elite. It goes by how much damage the weapon has taken...and on elite your weapons take a considerably larger amount of damage than normal and hard. If the weapon actually breaks....not just worn...but breaks during the quest it is a very very large amount of gold to fix it.
This may apply to higher priced weapons as I think in general repair bills only can get so high and ur never going to have to spend say 70k gold to repair a broken ML 10 weapon. I'll test this out in an elite Durks and post screenshots unless I am mistaken.....then I will simply support your claim :D In all honesty, I hope it was an oversight on my part and ur right.

actually, it was the air elementals and the healing drow-scorpion priests that got me. i could kill one but when 2 were healing each other it made me cry :(
the undead and gnoll post little issue. it's just the elementals and the healers that make me cry.
edit: i ran durks a dozen times and got 1 muckbane s o i'll use that one for oozes from now on. maybe i'll get lucky when i'm bored and get a second one.
of a seperate note i seem to have no issues running quests solo + hireling at hard but wipe when doing it with a friend and no hireling...
