I know this weapon is from the Pit. Anyway, the boss is the slime all the way at the bottom, from what I know, blocked by a grate.
Do you have to complete the rest of the dungeon before the way to the Slime boss is clear? Or is there a quicker way to reach him?
Is there any way to solo The Pit? I am totally stuck at the place where we need someone to turn the valves to throw us into the air.

Yeah it can be solo'd, but I think you need a hireling to turn the valves.

You can get a hireling to help with the valves, or it's possible to bypass them with a high enough jump skill and featherfall. You can look up some youtube video guides of solo Pit runs.
Like this one! Furnace 3 solo. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDfYRBas8nA) Found in hardly a second with Google. Google is our friend. ;)

I see. Thanks. How far do we have to go to reach the Muck's Doom boss? Does it involve getting past the air pump valves?
You can solo the pit with a 5 jump and featherfall, just have to know where to land.
I solo the pit regularly on several toons, you have to open the 3 purple valves in the furnace rooms to open the grate at the bottom, I always finish first, so not sure if you can get to the muckdoom named without completing.
Guess I will have to go in a check it out :)

You need to get the third bridge to the third furnice down, so almost the whole thing.
