Last night while running under the gem and doing offering of blood for the first time I pull Spectral Gloves. So off to the wizard king where still under the influence I pull Sirroco.

Thinking back to when my cleric was young and running under the influence he pulls Planar Gird in each of his first two runs of XC. My thief did the same thing but for Chaos Guards (Pulled in first and second runs)

Does anyone know how the Gem affects the pulling of Unique Items ? Cause it seems to me to be very positive.

Just a note here this was first time use of the gem for the char(s) and first times in the quest.

I still call them the Jewels of Wasting Turbine Points. Maybe they were fixed. But I am not going to fall for this trick only to be letdown again. ( I know you are a paid Turbine employee using stealth marketing to make me buy the Jewels of Wasting Turbine Points. ;) )

I have seen one player pull the planar gird three XC runs in a row.
I have seen one player pull THREE +2 tomes on ONE Shroud run.
I have zero stories on Spectral Gloves.

My brother pulled 2 Bloodstones in one run. Well before the "loot potions
were released. You just had a lucky day. And as far as I understand, the loot potions only effect the level of the loot pulled, and does not effect the drop rate of rare items.

In the past devs have told us and players have confirmed that named loot does not change by chest level (so running elite doesn't mean you get more than norm). The exceptions are 1) raids, where loot is more likely to fall in the end chest at higher difficulties, and 2) Mindsunderer where a random/named loot item is more likely to be a better version of itself at higher levels. in these two cases loot gems might or might not help.

Loot gems are generally a waste of money. If you really want to spend cash, get xp potions so you level faster - higher levels equals better loot.

I pulled both the planar gird and the chaos bracers on my bards very first XC run.

I pulled the named rings from XC in my fighters first XC farming runs before I hit my first XC ransack with my fighter.

I did not have a loot gem for those runs.

I did try the loot gem around November and December.

First time was my first runs through Tempest Spine. I wanted to increase my chance at tomes. Did not get any tomes. All the loot from there was pretty much vendor trash. Only a couple of nice items to put on another character when they level up but nothing named and nothing spectaular, just something useful(collecting kopeshes for my fighter.) I used up the 5 pack of jewels on several tempest spine runs.

I bought another 5 pack when I started ransacking Shroud 1-4. I figured I would see what kind of stuff I might be able to pull because I heard about tomes dropping from there. Just vendor trash. The stuff I got could be had in lower level quests but the items I got in Shroud had a higher minimun level.

Had 1 left over when I did a Mindsunder series so I popped it just to see what would come of it. Same results as Shroud. It was still going when we hit the super chest and I did not get a named drop at all.

I haven't bought any since because nothing changed.

Some days you get lucky and the rest is vendor trash.

Never did try those, but one of these days I was wondering if wouldn't it be good if all my guildies bought and used the gems that last for 3 hours and, in that time, finish as many raids as we can?

Got a +2 tome from a Vale named chest, not sure if those drop there without a jewel going. Other than that they are a complete waste of turbine pts in my experience. I bought the big stack of them, used maybe 5 or 6 then didn't bother anymore. If somebody has found a good use for them I'd be glad to hear it so I can use the rest of them.

A while back I pulled a vorpal returning axe in a vale chest, at least 7 or 8 Spectral gloves(My guildies hated me for that :)) and a Bloodstone and Spell storing ring in one run!

Probably entirely coincidence, but the one time my friend actually managed to open the chest in Abbot before anyone else in the group when he was using a loot gem we pulled: two Litanies, Vile Blasphemy, Staff of the Petitioner, and Purging the Pantheon. That was the first time I'd ever seen Litany pulled, let alone seen two pulled at once.

Without a loot gem you can't pull a +2 tome from the encounter area in the Vale. That's about the only time I ever use them. They're dirt cheap anyway.

They do drop from those quests without a loot gem. Haven't had one from one of the rare chests though.

For +2 tomes to drop in Vale quests they have to be run on hard or elite, or be a +1 loot weekend, or have a jewel. +2 tomes can drop in Reavers Refuge and Shavarath rare chests without a loot jewel.

yeah I know when I started the game this was quite a prevalent myth... "loot jewels affect the entire party as long as the person with it opens the chest first"

Huh, interesting. I thought I had read elsewhere that loot gems would affect the whole party, but obviously that's wrong based on the quote. As I said, I was pretty sure it was just coincidence anyway, but it was an interesting coincidence.

The description of the gem says "when you open the chest" or something to that effect. That lead people to believe that its that first opening that matters. It has since been explained that the "chest opens" graphic is cosmetic only and that each click is considered that player "opening the chest".

So the misunderstanding stems from a bad item description.
