Hey guys, I'm looking for a company that provides very affordable website hosting.

I have a site that's only going to be ~10mb, drawing <300 visitors/month.

I have no problem buying the domain name: 12$/year is no problem.

However the smallest hosting plan that sites like godaddy provide is ~5$/month.... which for what my site demands ... $60/year seems excessive for what I want.

Anyone know of any very cheap + basic web site hosting plans?

I've used GoDaddy for DDOcast.com since the start and really like their service. One thing to keep in mind is that if you get your domain name FROM GoDaddy, they offer free low-tier web hosting for a connected site. So, you can get that $60/year tier for free if you get your domain from GoDaddy. I use that for my personal web sites outside of DDOcast, works just fine. I'm pretty sure they even offer a free web site tonight web creation with the domain as well. They may not advertise it much, but if you register your domain with GoDaddy you should be set!

If you still don't like the GoDaddy route, I'd suggest probably using a free service like Blogger, Wordpress.org, Blogspot or one of those places.

This sounds perfect. However, I can't find any information on their site about it... any idea where I can read more about it?

When I go to Godaddy and hit the Domains tab I get this:

$1.99* Domain Names, Transfers and Renewals! with each and every new, non-domain product you buy -- no quantity limit! PLUS, you get Personalized Email ($14.28/yr value!), FREE Hosting, Quick Blogcast, Go Daddy Photo Album and much more - over $100 in value**! $1.99 for the first year only, reflected in your shopping cart at checkout. Some limitations apply.

I like doteasy, they have a pretty decent free hosting plan and I've never had a single problem with their service.

Startlogic is cheap, but I find that their hosting is slower and not as reliable.

GoDaddy is decent.

I heard a lot of good things about DreamHost, even though I don't personally use them.

Good suggestions guys.

doteasy: 25$ for a .com Domain, includes 12 months free basic hosting.
dreamhost: 9$/month basic hosting, includes domain registration
godaddy: 11$ Year for a domain, free banner ad-supported hosting or 5$ month for hosting.

Have you checked your IP? Many have web space you can slap a little site into and you will not even have to worry about getting another hosting account.

I would start there, since it will be basically free because it is included with your internet service.

This is what I usually do with my clients of small web sites. 99% pay for internet and ever single one so far offers a little bit of web space for web hosting.

If this is a static site you will be fine. If you are looking to have something that is dynamic such as housing databases, running server scripts or whatever, you probably will have to get seperate hosting.

If you don't mind a minor mutilation of the domain name (or if you don't have a domain name) you could use www.memebot.com (http://www.memebot.com/) for free, considering the low amount of traffic and bandwidth you expect it to use.
