OK Im in my second month of playing , it was running perfect even after the update 4. This problem started happening on wednesday the 14 of april. I click the icon on my desktop it loads i pick my character it loads and i start to play after about 5-15 mins it crashes, either it reboots itself or the screen goes black and freezes. Then i have ro shut it down myself. OK now to the real problem starts, it never stops doing that even when im not in the game. Im looking at my desktop and it continues to crash to a restart over and over it wont stop doing that the time inbetween crashes varies from minutes to like just over ten minutes. Then afterr a few crashes my computer goes into safe mode and it will not load windows at all for like 5 times in a row it stays in safe mode, then all of a sudden it starts like theres nothing wrong all the way to my desktop. But wait in about 5-10 minutes it starts crashing all over again. Su i wipe my computer and start all over like I just opened it. I load my internet program in and it works perfect I can go online stay online go offline amd my computer works like it should. Then i download DDO via file planet like i did a month ago , it worked then. OK here it is again. After it downloads the 3.6 meg file , i install it again run again then all the updates load in 45 misn later, the game is ready to be played. My computer never crashed at all during the 11 hour download time via file planet and there download manager. I logg in pick my character it loads I start playing it works then after about 10 mins Whaam it crashes to a restart and it continues to crash over and over even when im out of the game. But the time between crashes is about 10 mins i had time to do a system restore to a point i created. Now it stopped crashing wheew. HELP ME . If i logg into the game and start to paly it will start crashing if i dont logg in and play my computer works like it should. I have been playing like i said for over a month with this computer and it never crashed or any problems at all until a day before yesterday all hell since then. I dont know how to dispaly all the info ypu have other to do. `I have a Pent 4 3.0mhz 1k ram 128mb video card / Radien express 200 . Normally i would just uninstall and go find another game but i like this game it was wprking fine. I just made a payment and i have 1500 turbine points to spend, i use to play 10 hours a day or more so much time invested. PLEASE help me ...why did it just start to crash and why does it not crash after i wipe my system clean ...then after i play your game it starts to crash and will not stop until i wipe it clean again. This is where im at now. My computer works perfect but i know what happens if i logg in and play for about 10 mins. HELP {:Z/

First, your keyboard has an "enter" key. USE IT. Your post is rather hard to read in one continuous stream.

Next, start watching your GPU temp. Sounds like it is frying.

DDO has been crashing my computer lately as well. It roughly started within the last week or two. My computer works fine up until I try to play DDO.

All my drivers are up to date. So I see nothing wrong there. Not sure if there is an issue now with DDO's recent updates but I've been playing fine since January of this year.

If anybody else has any issues similiar to this and have found a solution, then please post it.

Thank you

This is a heat problem. NOT a DDO Problem.

A Fan Died or is clogged with dust and crud.

Open the case and look at all your fans. Are they all spinning?

Get out the vacumn. Use a Plastic attachment of some sort and suck it out.

build up of dust over time is the number one cause of overjheating in a PC. a P4 is a pretty old machine. have you EVER cleaned it out?

Alright......

So people are saying that its a heat problem. All fans are working and inside the case is kept clean.

All other programs, videos, applications that are ran work fine with no crashes.

Click on DDO, game loads up....crash. Sometimes I'll get as far as actually being able to get a character loaded up into the game and then it will crash. Or right when the character selection screen comes up it will crash. A few times its right when the game loads up after selecting a game server.

I've seen a couple of solutions...one where you delete the ddo files from My Documents. That worked for a couple log ins actually. But now it doesn't work at all.

Now this heat vs DDO problem. I'm more inclined to think there is something in DDO thats conflicting with my computer now. Like I've said before...game worked fine up until recently. All my apps, other games, etc, etc are working fine and not causing a problem. Only when I try to play DDO.

So....anybody else have any help or solutions.

For you, Ben,

The proper thing to do is to create your own thread. (mods well tell you to do this as well.)

Post your directx diags.
post everything you've tried to date.
How old your card is, how old, make and model of your PSU.
GPU temps during its run and load.
Have you installed any new video codecs recently to watch videos?

We can try our best, but we need details. The more you give us the better.

Do you play other high end 3D Games? Opening Internet Explorer, watching video, and checking your email do not create 10% of the load of running a 3D game. Any heat or power issues will come to the front.

Have you installed the temp (and voltage) monitoring software for your motherboard as suggested? Check your BIOS as well many have the option to turn on a beep alarm for heat. Also, verify that you do not have the machine to restart after a bluescreen?

You may think it's DDO but if its consistently 5-15 minutes and the system completely restarts it's likely not...20 years worth of experience tell me that.
