Error-free installation, but game won't start

I downloaded the game, installed it without errors, but when I run it, it does nothing at all (I've waited several minutes). I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it, nothing. I've uninstalled the pando and turbine files, and removed all references from my registry, then uninstalled and reinstalled the game from scratch again....still nothing. This is the only game I am experiencing this with, and I can run other games with higher requirements with no problem. I'm running a custom laptop with WinXP, but I am using ZoneAlarm as a firewall. Not sure if that is causing an issue, but all the DDO executables have allowed access, and every other program runs fine.

I also have all the latest drivers for everything, video card included.

Anyone have any idea what is causing the game not to run, or have any suggestions how to fix it?
