I've noticed there's the a button to share a quest in the quest log. How does it work for the quests from purchased adventures; can another player on a F2P account that hasn't purchased the quest join it, and if so do they get XP for completing it?

You can share it so that the other F2P player would have it in quest log, but this won't let him enter the quest itself. You'll need a guest pass for this.

Thanks for the reply tihocan; good to know. So I assume I buy a guest pass from the DDO store and it's cheaper than the actual adventure - correct?

When you are f2p guest passes are not cheap at all. In general only VIPs buy them with their monthly TP.

They are the same cost for F2P and VIPs :p And yes kronvan they are cheaper than the packs themselves, but obviously they are also much more limited since you can only access quests for 3h for the longest ones. IMO they're not worth their cost except for very specific purpose like accessing the Necropolis to get your Minos helm.
