Im starting to rely heavily on healing potion use (especially on my barb) is this normal or are we not supposed to really use heal pots (when soloing especially) maybe Im doing something wrong?
Anyhow, for Warforged is it the repair potions that act like healing potions, and someone said I should get the healer's friend enhancement like pronto?

If soloing past low level content, it rather normal to have to burn lots of pots. At low levels, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. I've never tried soloing on a Barb, so it might just be that your low AC is making even the low levels kind of painful.
For WF, repair potions are indeed the "equivalent" of cure ones. Healer's Friend is highly recommended if you don't want your Cleric/FvS/healer to waste extra resources (or worse yet, not even bother) trying to fix you. You may also find a friendly Arcane or Mechanic to fix you up, but those tend to be rarer then a Cleric/Fvs/healer.

at lower levels a cleric hireling parked at the entrance and called for between fights is cheaper then pots
A WF barb is probably the most expensive xharacter to keep healed. A few tips though if you plan to solo a lot:
1- Don't be afraid to use a shield. At low levels the shield will make a huge difference. With your strength and rage you should be able to kill things with a 1 hander or a two hander especially in Korthos.
2- Dont aggro everything at once. Try to inch forward so only a few mobs in a group come after you.
3- Dont stand in open areas, archers and casters will hurt you
4- Kill casters first, if they have aggroed
5- Damage reduction (DR) is good. A few items in Korthos will give you DR, even a DR of 1 will add up over time.
6- Move in combat, it does give you a minus to hit, but DDO is collision based so swings, arrows and some spells will miss you.

Agreed, this is the single most important thing you said, especially in conjunction with number 4.
If you see a caster charging up a lightning bolt or scorching ray jump over their head and kill them while they fire off into space.

With my WF Barbs, I take the following:
1) Healer's Friend (because it increases the heal you get from regular heal pots for fleshies).
2) Repair pots - they are cheap (very cheap) - roll a human bard, max charisma, haggle, and take all feats for increased haggle - get a haggle item for him (+3 at level one can be used) - use him to buy all of your repair pots (the lowest level pots), and then mail them over to your barb.
3) Between fights juice up on your barb with those small pots.
4) Run the Korthos Protect the Crystal quest and get the bracers of assistance (get at least 5 of them) - use them for the bonus HP, and the bonus to hit they give. Each time your HP is low, use them again.
5) If you run with a cleric, Aid stacks with the bracers bonus HP/clickie.
6) Also - if your cleric has divine cleansing, it heals WF over time, but it heals them at full power - the same applies for Paladin LOH.
Good luck - and around level 10 or 12 you will switch your heal pots because you are sick and tired of standing there for 5 minutes clicking 50 pots to heal 300 HP :)
