Guild: WE DO NOT RUN THRU DUNGEONS
Guild Leader: Joesir
Guild Second: Bengalson
Noted officers: Willowand, Wabbles, Brutti, Evokira, Faurendella, Filcher, Itsmine, Ikia, Josiegirl, Marinn, Orchestra, Soulfist, Taktoasprins, Tinkee, Wabblemon.
Guild Longevity: Two years.
Guild Description: Anti-zerging, non-powergaming guild made up mostly of mature players, many long time pen-and-paper players. Our playstyle emphasizes methodical working through dungeons, including breaking all barrels/breakables, doing all optionals, disabling all traps, looting all chests, sticking together as a group and never leaving a player behind. Co-operative, ethical and polite teamwork, with an emphasis on social interaction.

We do not recruit actively, but we do take on new members if you can commit to this playstyle and simply desire to regularly run with fellow guild members.

Despite the anti-powergaming atmosphere, we have several players in the guild who run or lead high-level raids, have tred toons or the top gear in the game. Not running Epic yet, but very soon.

We have a "Guild Alliance" and a shared chat channel with the guilds "Tech Support," "Married with Children" and "Dungeons and Dragons."

We encourage guild members to group with one another or our brother/sister guilds, but don't require it. Most officers are friendly and willing to teach new players/lowbies. We encourage loot-sharing, a "need before greed" ethos, and helping guild clerics with their expenses. We obviously do not tolerate zergers.

Contact an officer if you are interested in the guild. Typical playtimes are from 5 pm eastern to 2 am eastern (several players are West Coast or Central Time.)

There are times when we're in a dungeon and I almost have to issue a disclaimer "We do run through THIS dungeon." Prey on the hunter comes to mind.

I mainly play permadeath but when I lost one of my favorite characters at level 8 or 9 a few months back I thought it would be nice to be able to continue playing them outside of mortal voyage in We do not run thru Dungeons but when I tried to join up I was always given the run around by any members I could find online...there would never be an officer or someone with the "authority" to get me in.

Would still be interested in maybe being able to join in some of my permadeath players that die in mortal voyage and continuing them in your guild if you think that is a good fit.

I generally warn your members when they end up in one of my parties, that they're in the wrong type of group! :p

It just sounds wrong - I'm a PERMADEATH player - but I don't really play by the rules of PD I just say I do - in reality - I die and then jump ship to other guilds - I rock the permadeath sort of'ish

Hello everyone:

First dominp: I'm sorry you have not had luck joining our guild yet. Of course we are welcoming to any player who feels that they fit our playstyle and desires to join. We are not such a large guild that there is always an officer online, and we are selective with who we allow as officers - I don't even promote my alts to officers - so sometimes it may take a while. if you see me online, send a tell.

We would want some confirmation you are comfortable with that playstyle and an officer might want to party with you through a dungeon before an invite.

I've never played in a permadeath guild, but I do understand the concept. It's up to you whether or not you think you are cheating the permadeath concept by not deleting your toon upon death and switching it to another guild; I would think you are, but that's between you, your guild and your own integrity.

As for the other talk about running/walking etc -it's appreciated as a brief joke, but I'd like the rest of this thread to be reserved for guild updates, description, members and inquiries. Please don't hijack. I'm asking nicely. I didn't make that clear before.

There was one very constructive post where the commentator mentioned he warned people in our guild that their playstyle didn't fit his parties: fair enough. That's general good leader communication in DDO - let people know how you run, and if they don't like it they can or even should leave. I can usually keep up with anyone....

except for zerging rainbow in the dark. Easy if you have the light - not so easy on everyone else. Only group I've dropped from in 4 years.

actually we have many players in our guild who are looking for ways to play their characters outside the guild once they are "dead". It is in no way "not playing by the rules" at all.

while we are in our guild we have very strick rules we follow and alot of our characters never meet their full potential due to lack of gear or what not. We have a great time pushing the limits of what they can accomplish with their limited means but once that is over we like to have them pick up that +4 Strength item from the AH or chomp on a tomb or two. It is actually very fun and almost like playing a totally different character.

Its no different then say being in a static group with a few RL friends and then that static group breaks up....should you not be allowed to use that character anymore cause your static group broke up if you really like that character?? of course not....just join another group that you like and continue playing

The only way it is cheating in Permadeath is to continue in our guild after you die. We actually have had talks within our guild of forming an "after life" guild for our falling characters but due to the lack of activity....most of us are playing PD most of the time,
it would not be a very active guild and we don't think it could live for very long on its own.

But we have also thought about perhaps forming a "partnership" with another guild that shares some of the PD styles of play like no zerging, teamwork and challenging ourselves. This way those of us who would like to continue playing a character after PD have an option to do so.

I understand what you are saying now, and if it's an understanding in your guild that "dead" characters have to leave the guild but can continue in a non-permadeath guild, then I'm sure you would be welcome as players, or you could set up a sub guild that could be part of our alliance channel (that is up to the respective guild leaders, of course -- I'm just one officer). I do see how those accusatomed to permadeath play - which I imagine as tactical, co-operative and cautious - would fit in with our playstyle.

Send a tell sometime I am on. I'm on thursday from 3-12 pm eastern with reliability.

This sounds very much like a guild that i would like to join.
I have 1 pd-char in the same guild as Dominp, and 2 'regular' chars, a rogue and a cleric, both being lvl 12.

I started off last September with a friend, and slowly our group has grown, about 6 players in a pretty static group. But my main problem over the time is i developed another style as they do. Most of them like to zerg, run and play for themselves in a party. I don't. I'm a teamplayer, i like a challenge as much as cooperation between players in a party. Use each others strengths and abbilities. And how you discribe your guild, it seems that is what i like and am looking for at this moment.

The only thing bothering, i'm from europe, playing mostly during my evenings. That would be afternoons for USA.
Therefore i'm unsure if i can find enough guildmembers online during my play-time. Perhaps within the alliances i can find players to group with.

That said, i'll be looking around to see any of your offices online and to see if we can match.
Hope your guild can fullfill my needs ;-)

Oh hey, I have a toon i'this guild :) Great fun to run with, even if they* gave my char a nickname of "Fajita"

(Not insulted, it just makes me hungry when I hear it :P Midnight fajita runs after a dungeon to satiate a craving are not easy, even around local colleges apparently.)

Everyone I've run with has been very mature and patient, and always eager and willing to explain things out clearly if you're new and have questions about how the dungeon is going to go down.

Quite a treat :)

*they really only refers to about three people in the guild, that plurality is technically a they right? No?

Hmmm, just seeing this thread, and reading about your playstyle makes me want to get my VIP going again, and join up. The thing I hate the worst is a zerger who gets himself and everyone else killed, or gets way ahead and then complains when others haven't caught up. I will castigate on this, and send an ingame pm if necessary

I would like to welcome some of our new guildmates and invite them - and our long-term players, to post on this page. Although I didn't intend this page as a recruitment tool, and we're not interested in "growing" a guild out of proportion, its nice to have a few new souls who enjoy our playstyle.

And so this thread does not become a zerging vs non-zerging drama-fest, I recognize all people enjoy their own playstyles and (admission) there are flagging quests I simply zerg to get out of the way - and I either lead or follow in some zerg runs where players are self-sufficient and know the dungeon. Within the guild we play co-operative style.

Next post I make I'm going to do a little self-bio and encourage all officers to do the same.

Who is Wabbles, an officer of WE DO NOT RUN THRU DUNGEONS?

Game History: Longtime Pen and paper player (since the blue box series), never played MMO's before DDO but had played computer games that simulated the D&D world (Baldur's Gate, NWN). Started playing DDO near its beginning - must have been 2006. Was 2nd in the Guild "Prophets of Tann" with leader Essel, when that guild collapsed became an officer in the sister guild "Berry Goddess INN." Took a long absence from the game in Spring 2007, first to do a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, and when I returned because the DSL connection in hurricane-wracked SE Florida was poor. Returned to game July 2009. Currently an officer in "WE DO NOT RUN THRu DUNGEONS"

Toons: Wabbles (lvl 20 fighter Stallwart Defender) - nearly epic ready. But I'm not doing Epic until I have a static group and every piece of gear I want.
Wabblemon (lvl 19 fighter) will TR him when I hit 20, very soon.
WabblesII ( 9fi/2 pally) a more perfected intimitank than the original Wabbles. Should have meaningful intimi/ac for Epic at endgame.
Begforheals (Fav Soul 5 monnk 2) a side project, balanced healer/meleee fav soul.

Kalakk Cha and Tragdorr also, but they are stalled projects.

Favorite raids to lead: DQ, Shroud, Hound.
Favorite Quests to run: Sins of attrition, Xoriat Cypher
Currently hanging in : Amrath, Reaver's refuge
Trying to : get chattering ring in Titan, Demon's Blood In Bastion, change my DT runes (again!), participate in an Abbot raid that isn't full of fail, finish Boots and do some TOD runs, finish second shroud item (Min II helm).
Likes: Playing with guildies, helping other players, polite and mature players, Aten's Raid train.
Hates: PvP, Coalescence Chamber, Enter the Kobold, blowing quests because of poor communication between players, people who take the game TOO seriously, people who say AC doesn't matter but don't mind sucking up every bit of a Cleric's mana while they go off on their DPS glory, and that a full Levick's defender set makes you remove your chaosguarde and thus penalizes you an ac point.

In real life: lives in South Florida, enjoys the outdoors, teaches English Comp and Lit, has a hot but tempermental girlfriend and a cat named Jonathan Undercouch.

Elysian (sp?) from Tech Support wants to run an Abbot Raid thurs evening approx 10 pm eastern (after Aten's raid train finishes)for people in our guilds/guild chat alliance (notice I called it a "chat alliance" not an alliance per say; not getting ahead of ourselves). We're considering it more of a teaching run than a run that must/will succeed, although we are hopeful. be prepaired to do multiple attempts and expend some resources. You must be flagged which means get a complete sigil from necro 4, turn into sir rohan, run litany of the dead and kill the four bosses. Then you are flagged. I will be running the asteroid room and the rest is the show of the other vets.

Wabbles

PS let me know if you are going to make it.

Necro 4 is a Pay-to-Play quest, right?

wabblemon
04-26-2010, 07:26 PM
Yes it is - I think there are other packages you might want to buy before this - The Abbot raid is not frequently run - but you do want access to the orchard of the macabre wildreness area, and that's part of Necro 4. The Minos Legens helm is one of the easier items to obtain, and one of the better non-epic or shroud constructed helms in games (heavy fortification and 20 stackable HP through toughness) farming 20 tapeastries very doable in a few orchard chest runs. Min level for helm is 12 (perhaps even 11 I forget)

First, thanks Doc (Fudd) for posting.

Second, I was a week off with Abbot Raid - we are now doing it this upcoming Thursday. So build those sigils and do litany 4 times with the bosses.

Third, there are some other guilds in our shared chat I have not acknowledged: Battle Crows, Phoenix Marauders, and X...uh, I forgot the other guild. Or I don't know who they are yet.

Everyone have a nice weekend playing. May be on Sunday eve. Have a lot of research papers to grade and some down time with gfriend.

OK, Wabbs, here goes, I am Willowwand Oaksinger among many other aliases. I have the proud title of "Guild Momma". I started playing pen and paper Dungeons and Dragons in the fall of 1979. If there are any "ET's" out there that played in the barracks in Great Lakes in that time frame, send me a note, we probably played together!

I have never really played any other computer role playing games, much to the chagrin of my children. But in 2007, My husband and youngest daughter convinced me that since we no longer had a table top group, that this was the next best thing going. I held out for my own computer, and once I got it, I discovered they were wrong. Its just as good and in some ways even better.

Willowwand Oaksinger is my re-encarnated cleric, she is back to a lvl 4, I also run Willowand Morning Song who is a lvl 20, If you see any "Morning Song" toons on Argonnessen, they are mine. I am also learning to run a fighter, Zebanor, as well as a Wizard, Corriandar.

The guild We do not run thru dungeons was started when myself, Bengalson and Joesir found that we shared similar tastes in play style. We liked to explore, and learn the dungeons, while getting max xp and loot. to be honest the guild was started as a joke, only the joke was on us. It didn't take long at all before we had people wanting to play with us because they enjoyed a similar play style.

I don't mind leading groups in the lower levels up to about lvl 6. After that, I am lost - literally. I am directionally challenged and tend to get lost easily if I am not familiar with the area. So if you see a toon wandering a dungeon looking lost, please help me, I know my party is near by, just not where ;)

In real life, I live in the Texas hill country on 8 acres of paradise with my husband, 2 dogs, 4 cats and an assortment of wild life. We have 8 kids scattered around the country and the world. Including my 2 youngest daugters who are both in the Navy, and my son who is also in the Navy. DDO is an excellent way for us to keep in touch as we all play.

Auriga

I am Bengalson, better known as "Tiger". I am, so far, the 'Old Man' of the group. I played Chainmail, Basic D&D, D&D the Board game, Advanced D&D 1st Ed., 2nd ed., etc. I have been playing DDO with our fearless leader for over 3+ years now and remember when we were capped at lvl 8.

Williowand, my wife and Guild Mama, keeps a close eye on me, as I am also the "Dirty Old (emphasis on old) Man" of the guild. I am a 100% disabled veteran of the Viet Nam War and this is my main entertainment and social time. I would like all my DDO buddies to know how much they mean to me and thank them for the countless hours that they have shared their lives with me.

I love to teach the game and to help players come along. I started my kids on the game when they were in grade school and they still call up and ask if dad can play. Any toon that is a member "of the Tiger Clan" is one of mine. I always enjoy sharing and chatting even if you are not in THE guild.

Finally in reference to our guild name and the title of this note: I always taught my PnP players that there were three types of situations you will face in the game. To wit: Simple, Hard and RUN AWAY.

I am the monk, Destrie. My alts at this time are Solenth (WF FvS), Sharlessa (Drow Sorcerer) and Carmenth (Drow Rogue). I am new to the guild and have only been playing in guild for a few weeks but already I love the way this guild works. The teamwork is awesome and there is always someone who will give a helpful comment to my character development.
I have not played P&P DND though I have played other similar tabletop games. I have however been a fan of Roleplay games since they came out. (I am old enough to remember when Atari was the big thing).
Like Willow I tend to be directionally challenge and I appreciate those who wait on me and show me dungeons I have not run or have only run once. I also appreciate any help and suggestions anyone can give me on character development as I am pretty much experimenting with the builds on the characters I have.
I love to play up front, tanker types but I am trying to sprinkle in support characters as well if for nothing but the challenge and learning experience.
I usually play with my kids (single mom of 4) and I have found DDO to be fun and got hooked the first time I played. I love to team up so if I am on, ask me - I will probably say yes.
Playing in a team is important to me and I am OCD enough to get bugged if I don't explore everything or break everything or...well you get the picture. If I don't it's not gonna cause the world to end but I love the fact that this guild tries.
I'm usually on after 5 pm on weekdays (EST) except for Friday where I play in a Static group on Sarlona at 10 pm EST. And most weekends will find me right here unless I am out doing things with my kids. (Physical disabilities prevent me from alot of stuff but I do get to spend time with them.)

Tommymac39

My main character is Wrend Axesmith, a level 20 Dwarf Fighter Kensei that specializes in Great Axes. My other guild character is Kelphaba, a level 11 Drow Thief Mechanic. I really enjoy helping out and give away a LOT of stuff. I am an unofficial guild bank and store many types of items for guild members to use.

I Like to get the maximum enjoyment out of the game that I can and enjoy teaming up.

Feel free to look me up when you are online and we'll rock most any dungeon together. :)

As for real life, I live in Kitchener Ontario Canada. I have not been in the service, but I thank all of those that have been and currently are. Respect and happiness are two of my most treasured and enjoyable traits. :)

Enjoy your adventuring! :D

Thank you all officers and other members for posting introductions.

It's been good to see the guild grow a bit, without getting out-of-control. I do hope many of you new guildmembers will take the initiative to go on guild chats or our guild shared chat (please ask Joe, Willow or Bengalson how to access) to party together. As the guild grows it will be easier to find guild only groups, or groups that are mostly guildmembers. We all have to PUG every once and a while, and sometimes bringing in the unguilded or unhappily-guilded into one of our groups makes for new converts.

Personally, I'm into my summer A schedule. That means classes tues/wes/thurs. So you'll find me online all day friday, afternoon/eve sunday, and all day monday.

Wabbles is doing epic stuff and loving it. Finally got a complete TOD but no ring yet. We're working with our alligned guilds on Abbot raid, and, of course, there is a learning curve and a lot of death there. Get yourself flagged and join us.

Wabblemon hit 20, so I'm going to TR him with Joe and Doc hopefuly midsummer, after we finish more Shroud runs.
Wabbles II running Dragon/Titan/DQ raids, desert and Gianthold. Guild members lvls 10-14 look for me.

I'm looking forward to having more guild members who aren't in the 16-20 level range, to be able to group with... ;)

This is my main, Antheal the White Mage, a (currently) Level 10 Healer.

Until the next update and the Radiant Servant prestige (OMGSOCANTWAIT!!1!1!one), I'm usually playing about with trying new Alt characters - at the moment it seems to be a process of getting to level 5 or 6, then changing my mind about something and rerolling... it's a bad habit I have.

So if you see Antjames around, it's me. If I leave the guild unexpectedly on that character, it's because I'm rerolling and using the name again. At the time of posting this, I'm playing a Drow Bard (400 Favor FTW!) Antjames the Dark Chanter, that'll be specialising in Enchantments for Crowd Control, etc.

I usually just solo, but am kind of in a similar situation as Antheal. Ill make a charatcer, get a few levels into it, and then reroll because it doesn't work out the way I thought it would. Very bad habit indeed, other then earning some TP. Anyway I'm about to go through the process of re-rolling. Im thinking of having a Paladin as my main, and have 3 more slots for alts. I would totally be more then willing to pick something that would be beneficial to the guild, if I can talk you into taking a newbie in with no high levels characters. I would absolutely love to be able to learn the game from a guild with this kind of mentality! I have all classes and races unlocked, along with 32PT Build, and Veteran Status. If you're interested, please let me know.

Hey Darkerson, if you want to join, just contact an officer, we are not hung up on higher levels, I personally have toons from lvl 4 to 20 and will roll a lvl 1 if someone really needed the help to learn

Willow currently has 587 alts, and is always willing to roll up a new lvl 1 :)

Hey Guildies:

I'm thinking of trying to establish a static raid for guild members - probably a run through von 5-6, as the loot is usable as epic items also. I can run it with any of my 3 toons; we will try to adjust lvls to get people some of the good von 5 xp, but to get everyone involved we may have to run it just lvls 10-20 so some people may get power-leveled. Think of it for the completion, experience and loot, and not for xp.

I'd run on friday nights, 9 pm eastern. I don't have any night classes on that evening, summer A or B.

Let me know here or in-game, preferrably here, and what toon you would be bringing. We will start with runs on norm/hard and build towards elite. Will try to fill with guild alliance members if we cannot have a full guild run.

Hi there,

I've been looking for an active guild to join on Argon and you guys sound mellow enough and old-school enough that I hope I would fit in. [I cut my RPG teeth with this bad boy (http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/setscans/basic8th.html).] Any room for lower-level characters in WDNRTD? Between my limited play-time and my SEVERE altitis, my highest-lvl character is only 10. Presuming there is room, are there any gaping holes in the guild roster at low levels: i.e., roles that need filling? One silver lining to altitis is there's always another character idea waiting in the wings: "You say you need a halfling rogue / monk / paladin for Delera's? No problem!" :)

Thanks!

I was in a shroud run last night with Joesir, Willow, and Mesmir. Right after part 4, I lost connection and never returned. Hopefully, they noted that I only looted one chest. This was because my internet at that point cut out all together. The timing of that loss could look really bad, and I just want you to know it was not intentional. I was truly enjoying that run, and wanted to complete.

We have plenty of low-level players in our guild and nearly all officers have low level alts (I don't play mine enough). You are more than welcome (nice pic of the basic set BTW with the Erol Otis art). Just contact an officer in-game for an invite.

Hey man - chit happens. I'm sure Joe et al understand. Just let them know in game it wasn't a ragequit. We're pretty mellow as a group.

Bengalson has established our guild on Lamania (the test server) and is working on guild housing there. Please contact him if you want info on copying your toon to Lamania.

Hi - I am a casual player (1-2 times a week, mostly weekends) have been playing since the beginning, and my guild has died out. Looking for a new guild and yours sounds like a good mature place to land.

Any room for a 20 fighter and 15 monk?

I would like to get back into a guild given the new update.

Can someone PM me on the boards or in game to discuss?

Thanks,

Nub

I've tried to find an officer to ask him/her if I could join, but when every
I'm on there are no officers on.
Are there any officers that live in the West Coast?
(where i live)
