Skiver still worth it?

Hey all.
In cleaning up some of the stuff lying around various toons and banks, I realized I'm close to being able to finish the tomes of legend. (Cost me a small fortune on the AH, but doable)

I haven't really paid much attention though, with all the new Amrath stuff, plus GS options, is there anything better than Skiver? I know the Greenblade might be easier to get than it used to be with all the DQ runs, but of course that doesn't have Archmagi or the other stuff on it.

Just curious if Skiver is still one of the best items to get, or if something will likely replace it by the time my FvS is 20.

Well, unless you want to try for Epic Greenblade (http://www.ebecn.com/attachments/month_0911/20091113_2be21aa643dd335efc86m5ORHR61bKAK.jpg), Skiver is still pretty good.

Skiver is ZOMG awesome.

4 major spellcasting benefits all in one item, and the Improved Empower abilities dovetails oh so nicely into the enhancement line FvS get which does the same thing.

Plus you don't need to waste a greensteel upgrade on Wizardry VI.

I'd like a skiver if I get anywhere close to being able to get it, probably worth giving up large ingredients for pages if needed. Its comparable to high end greensteel, and one of the few possible places to get Greater Arcane Lore. Archmagi is also useful for when you are shrining and want to immediately cast some buffs afterwards.

why bother with getting 3-7 mln a piece tome pages when you can get it a lot easier?

I understand greenblade - epic would be even better but skiever?

I would prefer to wear dragontouched armor over the blue dragon scale and use the skiver. In addition, you can use the skiver starting at level 13 and the Amrath belts are not equippable until 18 for their archmagi; if you are riding the reincarnation train thats a big deal. Furthermore, the skiver will also save you a few spellpoints on your meta blade barriers. I am also of the opinion that a skiver is MUCH easier to acquire than an epic greeblade if you have some decent tradebait and/or plat.

Why bother trying to buy it when, as a FvS, you can solo Litany quite easily?

40 different Litany runs....zero tome pieces....zero. ZERO. It's like the boss burns them before I get there.

Took me about 140 Litany runs to get my Skiver. I ended up trading for 1 page and buying 2 others.

And the huge, astronomical drawback to an amrath magi belt is not having an amrath con+GFL belt. That's not a small drawback.
