I have made posts on both sides of the argument for the current state of the game!
And Ive been flamed by many for my opinions. (go figure)
As Ive posted in several threads; "I'm taking a new approach to the game to make it fun again"
With my "new" attitude, I've realized a few more things about what you all are saying about end-game content, & the new Searing Heights content.
1) ToD, Last night was my wake up call to the bugs people have complained about.
Lag so bad, it makes shroud look normal!
Boss fight is stuck in one place like Harry used to be!
Lack of imagination for the over all design! (really, the Tower is a decent set-up,but needs to have more content)
Shadows appearing and resulting in a wipe in 5 seconds! (what fun is that?)
Frequency of ring & boot drops! (40 runs & no drops?)(average MMO grind)
1) :) ToD; It's an 18th level raid! The completion ratio should be real low!
Damage dealt by red names is appropriate, (glad the the bosses are stuck)
Ring & boot drop frequency is ok, because of the special nature of them.
Lack of fights is ok because of the bugged things mentioned above!
Easy access due to the teleport.
2) Sentinels Update; Hit die are way out of proportion.
Lack of creative design! ( we know what zombies are)
A quest that is the "Pit" TR'ed, with no end fight!
Mediocre named loot.
2) :) Sentinels Update; Glad to have new content with epic included!
Hmmm, I'll get back to you all on the pro section here! (crickets)
We have been screaming for new content with epic settings, And we got it! Problem is, the previous epic settings have a lot to be desired! So I guess the new stuff should follow suit.
We are being given better standard loot! No complaints there. So why do 2 weapons have lousy stats, when they should be better than martial weapons? (Dwarven Axe & Bastard Sword)
New crafting stuff! Cool! So why didnt we get the ability to choose the DT attributes? Lets face it, GRINDING for runes, etc.. is really a pain. I find no fun or pleasure in the grinding aspect at all, In fact it resembles the "other" MMO games.
Turbine it seems is catering to the new players, and nerfing the end game!
Is it me?
NO!!! This is what I hear in-game, and read on the forums!
The balancing act they are performing is worthy of an all day pass to the circus!
The statement about going through the game class by class, was the first time I heard Turbine admit to some poor design aspects!
ALL the "veteran" players agree, the last GOOD updates were mod 6 or 7.
Again I refer to GH & the Vale; Great design & implementation, that includes all classes in a well balanced platform, The loot & xp are appropriate. Rogues can have a blast & show off their skills while still being viable contributors to a party. Melee types can swing with reckless abandon, Bards charm & sing, Casters can be real creative (like D&D)
The entire series for both are well planned & executed.
(the down side to these 2 series, is that our characters can tear that stuff up, but thats the price we pay for the cap increase)
We need proper balance brought back into the the game!
Turbine is trying to give us the "toys" we want for our characters, and is overlooking the important aspects of the beloved mmo DDO;
Design & Application in a well balanced campaign, that maintains the integrity of a D20 system!
The saying, "It is what it is" doesn't cut it anymore! Period!
Turbine, listen carefully!
Quit nerfing the game!, Quit putting a band-aide on the open sore we have in the game!
Quit hiding behind a cloak & dagger facade and tell us why lag cant be fixed, or why you dont have the brilliant minds that developed the earlier content!
WE ALL LOVE THIS GAME! So, why not get to basics and become the game the whole MMO community is talking about! (not how the F2P model is getting accolades)
The people writing those reviews arent here! WE ARE!
And we need a change!
We're not asking for an arm & a leg! Just a couple of fingers!!!!
