View Full Version : Packs for covering a few experience gaps ?

My toon is now at lvl 11, last rank for 12, and I'm going all the way solo with this guy. I already have the Gianthold pack, but I want to reach lvl 15 before starting Gianthold, so I need a few more quests in addition to the free lvl 10+ quests available (don't want to repeat each quest more than three times on Normal).

At first glance, I don't want to buy Demon Sands since I believe this has too much lvl 11 quests, and there are already several free lvl 11 quests to do. I would like just a few more lvl 10 or 12 quests due to the lack of free quests of those levels. So, what about Restless Islands? Is this a good option for covering this gap till lvl 15? Also, is this soloable (not having to protect some guy, walking over four pressure plates at the same time, etc)?

Also, I know can reach easily mid lvl 16 with Gianthold, but and after that? Is Necropolis 4 a good option for covering the gap between Gianthold and later the Vale?

repeat those F2P quests on hard/elite with party, they give good exp (round 10k pre rune for each on elite with no exp penalties) im F2P my char is now lvl 14, and i only started F2P quests on lvl 11 you can do easy Dreams of insanity and The enemy within on elite with good group

Demon Sands is much better than Restless Isles for XP, fun and loot. And you can revisit it on Epic once you're capped. It'd be my suggestion to fill gap between F2P and GH.
After GH you can directly jump into the Vale at L15/16.

At 11 I was running Orchard (Necro 4 I believe), but I also play a HotD paladin so it's probably a bit easier for that class what with all the undead. You can make quite a bit of XP and plat just doing tapestry runs (and that doesn't include the quests there). So either that or the Desert.

I went Orchard -> Desert -> GH -> Vale

I would not recommend Restless Isles for 11-14. (Actually I wouldn't recommend it at all. It's not terrible, but it's not great either).

Btw what's your build like? Can make a difference as far as solo-ability is concerned.

Aye that it can... the sands is absolutely the play toy of casters. Can be pretty mean to melee that aren't decked out.

My toon is WF Wizard, so pretty solo friendly.

And what about Necro 3 for lvl 11/12 quests? According to spoilers, seem pretty straight forward quests with good exp.

GH next (which you mentioned you already have)

And there you go. Leveling to 20 on a non TR made easy.

I would avoid Necro 3 (as they are mostly bleh quests) as an initial purchase.

My toon is WF Wizard, so pretty solo friendly.

And what about Necro 3 for lvl 11/12 quests? According to spoilers, seem pretty straight forward quests with good exp.

Necro 3 also has 1 quest that is impossible to solo, you need to pass a gear through a gate to another party member so that they can use a switch.

Can be done with hireling though.

With a WF wizard I'd say maybe shoot for Necro IV, especially if you enjoy explorer areas. Necro III isn't really worth it compared to IV. I realize GH and Necro IV span similar level ranges but you can start in GH for 13-14 and Necro IV for 15-16.

Demon Sands would still work well too, can run those on hard/elite to boost their level up a bit.

Really? What happens when you miss time it and the hireling has the gear, how do you get the gear back?

Ok, so Necro 3 is out of question. Necro 4 still seems a good pack for between Gianthold and Vale.

Also, I read somewhere the first quest to enter Demon Sands requires you to protect someone against waves of attacking mobs. Is this easy enough for a solo player? I don't want to buy the pack and stuck in the first quest :)

I don't like adventuring areas so much, but I can handle that if the quests are nice. What about Demon Sands quests? Solo friendly? (I mean, not like Invaders or The Enemy Within? I hate such quests)

If I remember correctly, you have to protect a few desert caravans from mobs for a set duration (timer). Once the timer reaches 0, you win.

I have done this quest on casual with my WF Wizard when he was lvl 8 for flagging purposes. All you need is a couple of extended firewalls and you are set.

P/S: Remember to open the three chests at the end of the quest before talking to the lady (questgiver). I talked to the lady first and didn't get the loot :(

This quest was necessary when it first came out, but is no longer absolutely necessary. You can teleport to the desert by talking to the warforged NPC near the bottom of the tower in the north marketplace. Fun quest though, with the right group.

The hireling never gets the gear. I never did it myself, but from what I understood by reading the forums, you just unlock one lever (interrputing the pull animation) then get to the other side, then pull the two levers simultaneously.
