I wanted all to read this and it is General game play related LOL..

Yesterday, I was doing my usual...reading the LFM panel deciding what I wanted to do...when I noticed a group forming for Von 3 and potentially 4. Several of the names were familiar but I had never grouped with them before. So I sent the party leader a /tell that I would be happy to bring my lvl 10 sorc.

So off we went. Completed Von 3 with no issues, but I am glad I was there because they were not aware, I don't think, of the minor change to the end of the quest. You cannot shield block at that first door anymore, you need to do so at the door with the barrier.

So onto Von 4 we go. Sorc, healer, healer, monk, rogue, paladin/fighter (one or the other, if not both).

We do okay, sorta.. get through the quest, get to the ooze/puzzle room. They with their keen insight and intelligence (the rogue of course), get the puzzle solved.

Only to be confronted by those nasty pieces of metal. The dogs go down fine. The master control unit and his guards???

At this point, the pallie/fighter had to leave..None of my spells worked, I did not have disintigate...

Hence, here comes our hero. Equipped with nothing but a +1 returning adamantine dagger that he picked up from a drop on Korthos Island. He dodged and kept at the nasty metal beasts until finally all were dead.

Our heroic rogue saved the day in order for us to proceed.

Our heroic rogue was none other than.........

.....drum roll please.................

Mockduck himself. :D

Great job Mock!!

Oh, you gotta watch that guy.

He'll resurrect your peacefully sleeping corpses just as you're about to get them all tucked snugly away for the win.

Seriously. If it weren't for him, we'd still be standing there trying to figure out how to kill them LOL.

Well, ahem, from a personal experience some time back (when a group of vets was shortmanning it with new characters) we ran into much the same problem. None of us had bothered to put any decent construct killing weapons into our aresenal's. It took a while but we did manage to drop those suckers eventually. Kinda hard controlling agro when only doing like d4's of damage....it also took a while.

In fact at least one of us offered to log to another toon, come in to help and then relog, since we figured it would be a LOT quicker than the slow death we were achieving. But then, this shows the value of "being prepared". ne'er again....

You need to throw a force ritual on that dagger Mock...:)

Indeed! I remember picking it up - it was from a barrel in one of the Korthos quests, gave me that "kuh-THUNK" sound indicating a "special" drop. Normally that drop is "special" in other ways, but since this was on Orien and with the DDOcast Build Guild I had/have no gear/plat/etc to twink. Remember thinking, "...hey, ya never know when I'll be out of arrows or needing that adamantine..."

I'm sure on our "home" servers we'd probably not run into a full group without a single adamantine or construct basher, but this is the kind of stuff you run into when starting from "scratch". Since we've largely been playing in-guild, filling up pug slots then whenever an opening happens, we're all pretty much in the same boat when it comes to not having any loot. I know I wasn't doing ANY damage on the iron golems with my other weapons, glad I was able to slowly ping 'em to death with that returning dagger.

Man, it took a while...

I think the last time I was in a situation like this was a few years ago when I did an Elite Church and the Cult run and none of us could do anything to get past the vamp's regen. We had him surrounded, but just couldn't get that hit point bar to move. I think we solved that one by bringing in higher level casters-clerics and spelling him to death...

It was awesome to run with you Cupcake! Totally cool surprise to see ya joining our group. I can now check "Group with Cupcake" off my list of DDO things to do.

My rogue did generally pretty well in there, other than the time I blew the sonic trap in the door to the shrine cubbyhole...

You did a fantastic job!

You also showed me something I did not know. I did not know that there were trap boxes for that nasty trap up top. So thank you for that LOL.

It was great grouping with you guys. I had fun. :D
