View Full Version : Why am I running these missions? and re-distribution of equipment and a bug

I've been running up my favour when there aren't any groups I want to join. Like lots of folks, I've got tonnes of holes everywhere in my mission list where for one reason or another .. I didn't ever run a particular mission. So I come back to these level 3 & 4 missions at level 12 and only the casual and norm levels are available.

So I've got to run missions I already know for no experience in order to reach elite for the favour. People get around this by looking for elite openers ... which often results in a high level group zerg like our mixed 11 - 14 STK the other day. Which was a boring cakewalk.

But this was actually an excellent result... finding a group of similarly levelled players to run a long series of relatively boring low XP missions for the favour. There are often worse situations like not being able to find members or confusing and annoying newbugs by running them into an XP brick wall.

Suggestion #1:
If the mission isn't giving any XP, allow the player to run the mission at a higher difficulty... regardless of whether it's been completed before.

Next ... Loot. My toon is reaching a level where lots of useful loot is being dumped to bartenders just because managing so many auctions for so little reward is not worth the effort. I dump decent gear off to the auction house at reasonable prices (it's usually bought) but it's too damned hard to try to manage inventory and auction space when auctioning everything.

Suggestion #2
Add a teleport for the haven in Ataraxia. If I could teleport straight to the general vendor, I wouldn't dump vendor trash anywhere else. That would allow other players to pick up the goods at reasonable prices and make the game a little more level.

Finally.. this one is a glitch. Able to re-produce this two occasions. Started 2 new toons in the last two weeks, and both had problems with the grotto. If I zerg past the NPC's, open the doors etc... in other words, move as quickly as possible, Jeets gets very screwed up. In one instance he ended up in the wrong room where I eventually found him and he managed to disable the trap and open the lock from the wrong room. In the second instance, I wasn't able to speak with Jeets at all ... he just wasn't selectable, like he was part of the background. But in this case, his body was where I expected (unlike the previous issue).

I've run through this (quickly) with other toons, so it looks like it might have been introduced in the last update. Waiting for the rest of the party to do their things and following the directions precisely (shrining, waiting for celemas to tell me to open the gate etc.) made it work fine.

Suggestion #3
Add a /strangle emote for whenever Jeets enters any mission.

Thanks for reading

Re suggestion 1. Be a VIP then you can open on hard.

Turbine could add in the store the ability to unlock quests on hard. Money maker there. P2Pers would probably snatch that up.

I would like an option that allowed you to open a quest on any difficulty if you compleated it on elite on a previous character.

I do like the idea about allowing a quest to be opened on elite if you are not getting any XP, but the elite difficulty should be what the check is based against. No XP available on elite then I wouldn't mind seeing it opened on that difficulty straight away.

I've been VIP for the last 6 month's trying out content and seeing what I do like. Opening on hard isn't a good enough reason to keep me VIP so I'll be going back to P2P.

wait, so you're level 12...asking for an easy button on level 3 and 4 missions?! man you should be able to plow through that stuff like nothing, even on elite solo, sad

No...you need Jeets...

He leads to lotsa loot and XP later in the Inspired Quarter...

YOU CANNOT STRANGLE JEETS.

I would like to be able to open on Elite IF no XP is given.

I would also like favor/flagging to be kept if you True Reincarnate a character.

The fact you do not keep favor has led to me zerging my new toons to 20 and THEN TR...in my TR life I then focus on Favor since I then start at lvl 1 and need more quests to level.

The problem here is that a level 20 obtained from running the "usual suspects" quests could be an elite opener for low and mid-level groups without having ever done them.
The idea about opening any quest on elite just because the player has done it before is even worse. The major beneficiary here would be someone who was VIP long enough to get a lot of quests done on elite, so that he could go back to free status and have a way to get favor easily....

He can, and said as much. His main complaint that the missions were long and boring, implying that having to do them three times to get it up to elite favor is three times the long and boring, which makes it really, really boring.

Read the post, its all there I swear. If anything is sad, its reader comprehension..

Anyhow, I agree with him somewhat. As a player, I loathe running old quests for favor multiple times. LFM's are a good solution, but hardly perfect. I think putting the option in the store for hard opening purchase is probably DDO's best shot, but then again it steps on the toes of the VIPs who are already rather upset. No matter what happens, it all comes down to money, and as favor is basically money as far as turbine is concerned, you might have to wait a long cold day in hell before this gets changed much.
