How would I know? Was she wearing sexy clothes? or not wearing sexy clothes and expecting people over for the holiday? These hints would be a tip of what she really meant.
Personally if I got asked that by my guy I'd be like "great, let's level our lowbies and then have a candlelit dinner" but that's just me. :D

... it's funny how when you live with someone,. the time you had to play by yerself is not understood once the person is in the house all the time... me? I get enough social interaction at work (1 day = 1 year to me).. but a fiance seems to want a bit more... :)

Maybe, but if she loves you she will figure it out. It is an addiction after all.
Now my wife would just snicker and tell me she's been waiting for like 5 minutes or so for me to get on.
Yes i am a lucky man:)

I know who you are, now... muah!
Yes, you failed. The proper way to do it is to plan. First, you set her up so she has something to do that she enjoys doing alone. Be sure she knows it's something you hate doing. Then, you say, "I know how much you love to ~insert activity here~, so I'll just stay out of your hair. Have fun, babe. I think I'll just play a little DDO. Holler at me if you need something."
That way, you're not asking permission, and she will get to think you're doing her a favor.
Personally, I got lucky in my choice of mate. When I ask my honey, "Mind if I play?" He hears, "Don't freakin bug me, I need to soak in some oblivion for a little while." and he usually leaves me alone, as well as runs interference with the rugrat. I just wish he'd get off his tookus and fix his own computer so he wouldn't have to use mine for business stuff when I'm about to raid. How hard is it to order a 500w power supply, anyway!? :D I do love that man. He understand that I get twitchy when I go too long w/o DDO.

At first my wife was actually offended by my need/want to play. After time, she understood that it makes ME happy. Like all those COUNTLESS FRAKKIN HOURS OF CHICK FLICKS made HER happy. It took some time, but she's ok with it now, as long as she still gets some face time.

I'll try and help you here. I had to replace mine a few months ago. Now you can tell him that you heard that it was an easy task to do and that a fellow female gamer was able to replace hers. I am hoping like all men he wouldn't want to be outdone by another woman and hopefully it will get him motivated. The only other choice is to buy one for him then when he asks to use your computer you hand him the power supply. :D

You guys are lucky. I was enjoying a pleasant evening last night. Then some idiot actor on the tele starts rating his first dates on a scale of 1-10. Oh no you didn't...
Wifey turns to me and purrs "did you think I was a 10 when we first met?"
I paused only briefly while trying to recall page 6 of my Wifey User Guide...
Doom.
Since then, hellhounds on my tail and I'm up to my head in brimstone. Sheesh.

Proper response: "Honey, I didn't think you were serious when you asked that!! Since we both know you were a 20, how could I be expected to know you really meant me to answer that?"

Pfft, noobs. I haven't listened to a word my wife has said in years. Oh, she still talks to me all the time, but I just smile, nod, and say "Yes, dear" occasionally while thinking about video games in my head :p
And yes, she plays DDO and will probably see this, but I haven't gotten in enough trouble lately :D

Well after a few years of listening to my wife complain about all the time I spent online gaming I made the best/worst decision of my life........I built her a craft room for her scrapbooking.
Best: I can play for hours as she happily amuses herself in her craft room.
Worst: Because she is constantly buying new stuff to put in there and bugging me to build shelves and such!
But all in all the peace and quiet while gaming is worth all the money spent on her. plus she doesn't complain about my subscription fees anymore either! :D

Candlelit dinners really cut into the xp/hour ratio. Though I have heard there are some great favour rewards...

this thread should be copy pasted as a whole to a "you know you play too much ddo, when..." thread :D
-describing getting lucky with the missus as a favor reward for completing candlelight dinner on elite. etc ^^

The sad thing is, I rarely read the forums. However, he couldn't stop chuckling to himself and mentioning that he posted something that would get him in trouble that I had to come look....mostly to satisfy his need to get in trouble. :)

Wife lets me play when I want for as long as I want and gives me about a weeks notice when she wants to do something in the evening. Married 30+ years play pnp once a month at my house and on ddo for about 6 hours an evening. Been playing pnp since 1979 even sent my so to college off my collection when I sold all my pre-1st edition, 1st ed, 2nd ed, and all my Dragon, Dungeon, and Polyhedron Magazines from 1-250+ one year at GENCON.

If you paused = fail.
there are two plausible answers to that if you truly love your wife AND want to play DDO and if shes is a normal quasi-firey independant woman.
Option #1. No, I thought you were a 9.5 but I think your a 10 now!
Option #2. Then? honey you have always been a 10.....
Never provide honest answeres when it comes to your woman's appearance even when you think it is "OK" because in the end its not.
There is only a partial alternative and you have to meet the two other qualifying levels.
1. You can alter your response if you have been married 15 or more years.
2. You married as a dominant male and shes a submissive.
Either or, and you can add humor like, "honey, they have no scale for you" or "can we use fractions?"
dominant, "you think yourself worthy of being on a scale in the first place? gasp!"
