your ac wont be great, better go pal12/ranger6/mnk2

tempest 2 gives nothing which is worth the tradeoff for not getting tier2 pal PrE

Yah that was the other build I have put together, is the 12 palie, 6 ranger, 2 monk, it looks like a real beast. The only thing I hate about that build is the fairly severe lack of skill points.

Honestly if you are going that route why not go 14 pally 6 ranger. You will have higer dps via zeal. Yes evasion is nice but if you are going to go 12 pally you might as well go 14 and pick up zeal so then you have a 20% stacking attack increase.

I've got quite a few paper bag DPS characters, I'd really like to make something that didn't fall over every time a mob sneezed in your direction :P The zeal angle is nice, and it's pretty tempting, but I really do hate not having evasion.

The palie version of that build isn't really intended to be an all out DPS character, as much as it is a well rounded character. I think given the BaB and feats in that build, the DPS should be more than enough to hold your own.

Looking at your second build: I thought the usual advice for paladin builds was "make WIS a dump stat and use tomes & WIS items to be able to cast spells." WIS 8 + 2 tome + 4 item and you're set. With base CHA 14 + 2 tome you could take DM II at pal 10. Then you could put the other two stat points into either STR or INT.

It seems a pity to have to wait until lvl 15 to get IC Slash. Maybe take one of your monk levels sooner and use your bonus feat to help meet the Tempest pre-reqs, so you can take khopesh at lvl 3 and IC at lvl 9? You delay Tempest by a level, but that's better than delaying IC by 6 lvls, IMHO.

Yah I've actually reworked the order of feats/classes etc, I threw that one together pretty quickly. The thing I still hate about that 2nd build, is the lack of skill points.

I think I did end up reworking my starting stats as well, I'll go see if I can dig up the revised one.

Thanks a ton for your input! Still wrestling with trying to make a good all around character that's fairly tough.
