Ok, I have been solo quite a bit lately. One HUGE issue I am seeing is that reist are just about worthless.

I don't have resist a fire elemental in Relic of a Soveirn Past will hit me for 2-4 damage. If i have a resist 20 pot on it will hit me for 1 ever time. Not just there either, everytime is take less damage from elemental attack in a full group than from solo.

The resists passed out in groups (at that level) is often Resist 30. Moreover, a lot of casters will also throw out Mass Protection, which will take 120 pts of elemental damage for you (sadly, before Resists are applied, it seems). That's probably why you're seeing more damage solo then in a group. The mobs should actually be hitting harder when you're in a group (due to Dungeon Scaling).

If you have enough House J or House P favor, you can get Resists there which last 30 minutes (and survive zoning and resting). I'm not sure about the caster level though. It might also be advisable to look for a Greater Resist item on a ring or cloak, especially for fire and acid, as you are most likely to get pegged by a Fiery Inferno or Melf's Acid Arrow. You can also find some Protection clickies to soak up 60 damage for you.

That would be dungeon scaling in action.

Elemental Damage = Round Up((Initial Elemental Damage - Elemental Resistance) * Scaling Modifier)

So for instance on a fighter with and without resist fire 20, solo, on normal (where it is scaled to roughly 18% damage received) hit by a scorching ray (for 22 points of damage) it would look like so:

Elemental Damage = Round Up((22 - 0) * 0.18)
Elemental Damage = Round Up(22 * 0.18)
Elemental Damage = Round Up(3.96)
Elemental Damage = 4

Elemental Damage = Round Up((22 - 20) * 0.18)
Elemental Damage = Round Up(2 * 0.18)
Elemental Damage = Round Up(0.36)
Elemental Damage = 1
