I'm playing a Warforged Rogue1/Wizard 6 and I'm having some troubles.
He's simply amazing at finding and disabling traps. He can cast Haste and Resist Elephants, so he is good with 1/2 of the requirements that most parties have of a wizard.
I'm disappointed with the amount of damage that he does to opponents and soloing with him is fairly slow. I can solo without a lot of difficulty because he can self-repair and he can charm most of the things that he can't fireball/Niacs, but he's just not tearing through quests the way that my Warforged Barbarian with the WF wizard hireling is doing at a similar level. Are my expectations just unreasonable? Is there a guide to Wizards and Wizard spell selection in particuar that I should read? Am I just going to be a bit gimpy until I get my firewall and I should just get used to it?

the common dnd logic apllies to ddo to some extend too:
in lowlvls the melees defend the casters
in midlvls the melees support the casters
in highlvls the melees sit back and have a drink while the casters blast everything. in ddo the difference here isnt that great, its kinda like midlvls too
lvl7 is close to midlvls but still lowlvl

if you want to be fast, run in quest, displace, jump and haste yourself (maybe a stoneskin wand usage too). run around. when you have orange da stop, turn, shoot some maximized empowered acid blast/fireball. rince repeat. frostlance/scorch the boss.

Your next level gives you wall of fire, which starts making things interesting for wizards :)

the common dnd logic apllies to ddo to some extend too:
in lowlvls the melees defend the casters
in midlvls the melees support the casters
in highlvls the melees are generous to allow more than one arcane caster in their raids, 'cause melee DPS is king.. in ddo the difference here isnt that great, its kinda like midlvls too

Fixed in red - I don't like that it's this way, but sadly enough it is.
Op, when I build my rogue/wizards, I make sure to focus on Int first, then Strength/Con next. With a decent Str/Con, your WF wizard will clear out dungeons in the lower levels with a great axe, saving the spell points for the buffs, repairs, and occasional charm/crowd control.
At higher levels where wall of fire produces a bunch of "immune" messages, I return to this tactic. And sometimes just because it's fun :D

Is there a vendor which sells scrolls of 'Resist Elephants'?. I'd love to have that in my spellbook. Does it just
work on elephants or does it apply to other Pachyderms as well?

what you fixed was the pnp version, so youre saying you have raids in pnp and dont allow your players to join you unless they play inferior classes

Just stick it out and play support until you hit level 8. Then you get Wall of Fire, and become God.

I misunderstood - I thought you were saying that common dnd logic at high levels applied to DDO, but to a lesser extent.

This is a good start, Sometimes it can really be hard to resist a pachyderm. At least with haste you also have a chance to outrun it.

Q: What's the multicolored stuff between that elephant's toes?
A: Slow-running wizards.
