[begin, not ranting, not yelling, not angry, calm whine]
Why are these two the problem children lately? Especially they seem to mirror each other, are these two actually on one server array? They seem to be down when no other servers are, and even when other servers are down they seem to take an extra hour or two longer to get them working correctly again. While those other servers are up and running, I'm twiddling my thumbs wondering if I should google up some reviews of other MMO's... (not a threat just the truth, instead I decided to whine a bit)

I'm guessing the hardware upgrade was only for the other servers? Or the hardware running Thelanis and Sarlona is having issues that the others aren't...

Seeing how there's no apparent means to move characters and stuff to one of the more stable non problematic servers this is kinda frustrating, especially when you have limited play time and a good bit of that is concentrated on Sunday... In the morning... to the afternoon... which is now completely shot... As I stare at a loading screen that's frozen in the log jam (logon jam? I'm hilarious ;)

Speaking of mornings... Why is it that Turbine does maintenance in morning hours instead of the wee hours like 3am to 8am? I realize this requires a few employees to wake up super early... but that's life... inconveniencing thousands of players by pulling servers down morning to afternoon seems like a very poor business decision. If this is actually due to statistics finding more players playing between 2 or 3am and early morning, than play from early morning to afternoon, then I understand and can support that, but that is counter intuitive, and I suspect highly not the case, based on my own experience playing MMO's that had "third shift" maintenance, where morning cup of coffee players would often mob the servers and provide some of the more interesting "pre coffee" chat and gameplay.

All the servers' hardware was updated at the same time... I can't see Turbine skimping on systems for one or two servers... They probably got a quantity discount or, at the very least, having identical hardware means fewer spare parts in inventory :D

Your 8 am is my playing time....

The servers come down at 12 pm for me which is a perfect reminder to go to bed for work the next day :)

Our servers are gimp and lack str and con. Probably have all in dex and cha without any need for those. :)

I don't mind the server time too much, maybe put it off till about 8 instead. I don't usually go to bed till then any way. :D

OP -- interesting to hear you mention this because I recently started toons on Sarlona (usually play on Khyber) and have definitely noticed Sarlona has regular lag issues and jerkiness not present on Khyber.

Why? I have no idea -- but theories keep it interesting, right?

Interesting. I'm on Thel and I seldom ever see lag. I play U.S. central time from about... 8 pm to 12 am normally.

This is something that anyone complaining about lag should do. Note the server and your play times in either U.S. or GMT zones. Without data, your words are worthless to people in charge trying to figure things out.

I play on Sarlona and have never had ANY lag at all in 6 months. As far as lag goes, DDO is the best I have ever played. Nothing like what I used to see at times in WoW.
