OK....Rant on.
Running Tempest Spine/Leet...12-14th lvl toons...Easy run, smooth as butter...Then to the boss...puzzle done....its starts.
"Hey, puzzle done drop the runes, pls."
Nothing....
"Put the runes in the vases , pls."
Nothing...
People start flying..."Hey, put the runes in so we can get kill him, pls!
" Oh sry, I dropped them, needed room for loot."
Huh? What?...Attention Please: If you do not know the importance of items in a quest, do not touch them, until you know what to do with them and are willing to take the responsibilty for what that entails!
You will waste peoples time and resources.
Feel free to PM me for the name, so you can um..Blackli.....I mean help this person in the furture.

Were you the Leader?
Sounds like a Failure on the Leaders part to me. If the importance of things like this are not stressed, you have no one to blame but yourself.
The leader should collect the Runes or Assign a Specific person to carry them.
Stating this person needs to be blacklisted because they didnt know is uncalled for.

It's just common sense. Being NEW is no reason to be this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dumb)!

He grabbed the rune at Fire and Ice...Leader(not me) made it very clear that he needed to grab all of them from that point on, he said no problem...it was very clear.
Kind of reminds me of when people would purposly jump off the edge on Velah or DC with the crates from gwylan's.
I sent him a tell after people started leaving stating " you should have let someone else carry them if you didnt know the importance of them.
He said and I quote " I am new to the game and I am not like you who were the best from the time you started, but I forgive your idiocy"
Thus, my frustration has spilled forth.
Impaqt: I want to thank you btw, I gimped several toons, until I came across your drow tempest ranger build. It gave me many insights into proper build techniques. It really did have an " Impact". that being said, when ya gonna make some more updated builds!!!! Lets go!

How many items have you picked up in a Quest that have no value or use within a quest?
Tangleroot, Delaras, Tear of Dhakaan, etc etc etc... there are many Quest items that have no value and no use. but appear in your inventory and are not necessary for quest completion.

I agree.
It's takes no time at all to type in chat or say out loud, "noone touch the runes, I'll pick them up. We need them for the end"
I don't see this as a failure on the new player side. I say it's on the side of people who assume everyone just knows exactly how everything it.

I think ya'll are missing that it was the LEADER that picked up the runes and then decided he needed more room for Loot. He also stated that he needed to have all of them... It sort of smacks of shinanigans to me.

No, what you are missing is that the LEADER SAID not to pick up the runes, but once the noob in question did, he had to have all of them (it's what happens in Tempest Shrine - one person grabs all the runes for end puzzle) and the noob in discussion decided he needed more room for loot.
Please reread the post you think you understood better than everyone else.

As a new player myself I certainly appreciate the patience conveyed here, but I don't agree with it in this instance. There are many cases of ignorance that I find acceptable from new players--Not knowing specific weapons or spells that might make a quest go a little smoother, using the auction house as a standard for item value, things that might be game-specific. Personally, I spend a pretty good deal of time on the forums trying to learn because I don't want to be "that guy", but I understand and accept that not every player does.
This case, though, seems like common sense. If you don't know what it is, or does, or what's behind it, leave it alone. If it's already in your inventory, leave it there until you know you don't need it. *Especially* if you're currently IN a quest or chain. I would love to see more things in the game like the trapped doors in Feast or Famine or the insta-death docent in Prison of the Planes, I think those are healthy lessons.
I do agree that the party leader shares some of the responsibility, but it's a tough spot--By definition pugs are full of people that you don't know. How much trust do you put in them? Trust them to heal when you're going down? Not hit an altar to complete a quest? I think it's reasonable to expect that telling someone to collect all of a certain item also implies "and don't scrap them". On the other hand, if you don't know the guy you're better off taking care of it yourself. Especially if the you're the leader and the completion or failure is on your shoulders.

I'm new to this forum(and for the most part to DDO as well since my main is just lvl 14). I would have to agree with MCPeePants in that it's nice that there is support for new players in the community. However, if what all has been stated on this circumstance is true then mentioning a blacklist isn't really over the top.

This is the main reason I say that. If the guy is telling the truth about the wording in the conversation on both sides then he really was dealing with an idiot. Unless advice is given in an insulting or condescending manner then there is no reason to respond like that.
