Searing Heights gets updated with blood pirates for a new blood pirate quest that it won't let me play..
And the quest has an epic option.
But whats the point of stuffing it in there if theres no epic searing heights?
Just adds a tedious run to the quests that serves no purpose for lvl20s. Buncha weak mobs on the way to ignore while the duronge alert piles up and annoys you, great.
Give it an epic option to match the quest in there.

I assume you mean an epic explorer area? I don't think many would use it.
Just like most Epic VoN6 groups blast threw normal VoN5. The run to the quest is not why people are going there...

Fixed that for you

Poor comparison.
The reason we don't do VoN5 epic is because it's very poorly designed risk vs reward.. Not because it's an obstacle. It takes over 2 hours and grants less rewards then VoN1+2 take, which takes 40 minuits.
Searing Heights epic could be a ton of fun. Tons of chests in there, each one could have a chance at dropping the Sentinels item seals, mobs drop the scrolls. Sounds great to me. Could be the ideal hunting ground for scrolls and seals, while the shards come from the quests.

If they couldn't get the risk/reward right for VON 5, I'm not sure they would nail it to your satisfaction in an explorer area either, unfortunately.
Good idea, though.

Hey, don't you love doing elite Reaver, normal Shipment/SOS/VoN5/Shroud, casual ADQ!?
Welcome to DDO.

I could see that being a ton of fun too.
The Orchard (when the cap was 14) was modestly challenging and had good rewards. People still run slayer/rare/explorer runs there now in a way they just don't in most of the other wildernesses.
Epic Searing Heights could have some of the better seals drop from the chests in the Drow area and the weaker ones from rares in the Quickfoot areas.

Elite reaver is at least elite.. I'd take elite searing heights if they had any options.
When I do Shipment, SoS I always run elite.
VoN5 I've done it on epic the most out of anyone in the game probably. Do it fast on normal now just because it's not that much fun with the stupid traps and poor rewards.
Shroud I just don't run anymore at all.
ADQ .. I never run casual, I pick normal for fast flagging. It's 0.00001 second faster cuz I don't need to change the difficulty, just take the default and go.. 1 shot everything on normal anyways heh.

As if it really matter whether you flag on normal or casual.
The fact is, Turbine want us to run obsolete underlevel content to get high-end gear.

Actually, I'd love the options to up the difficulty on Explorer areas. Have it increase the chances that rares would be there and drop better loot. Not sure I can see a downside to that.

actually i'd rather they take that quest out of Searing heights and reserve that explorer for some other quest chain
it's silly to make the players do such a long run from House D to one end of Searing Heights >_>

Don't forget the broken trap DCs in von 5 epic which make it not worth running.

I think adding an epic slayer area is a great idea. It doesnt have to be this locale, but it would provide quite a bit of additional content for capped toons without much effort.

Epic trap DC's arn't broke, and if they are, show me the thread where the DEV's have said so. So it takes a 90+ disable... you can get that, it's called quit building a 100% melee/dps focused rogue. try building a trapsmith that can still qualify for assassin.

Well the game still has a pretty thin quest are around lvl 15-17, so I apploud to any quests added in this range. Especially with 2nd TR people will love more options.

Isn't this dead horse already beaten black and blue?
Are you seriously advising people to sacrifice damage for the sake of 1 difficulty level of 1 quest out of three hundreds that scarcely gets half a dosen completions per server?

.....Or they could make the trap DCs reasonable to accomodate the fact that most people are not willing to make a build with a purpose so narrow in scope that it is valid for only quest in the DDO universe and subpar everywhere else.

I corrected your mistakes.

its simple
GIVE US more EPIC (loot, monsters, quests, explorers)
We dont care about anything except end game
and your a fool to think that anything less than that will do.

Correction. *you* don't care about anything except endgame. *I* care about levelling, and not one jot about endgame. When I get to endgame I will almost certainly just roll up another toon and start again. Endless repetition just for loot? No thanks. I like character advancement and new skills & abilities. New toys are nice, but since you ultimately end up with identical equipment to every other capped toon... I fail to see the point. I'd rather go level up with a new class and a bunch of new people and get new experiences.
But that's just me. I, and I sincerely hope no-one else here would ever be so arrogant as to claim to speak for the entire game population.
Having said that - I think epic explorer areas - or for that matter the usual c/n/h/e/epic difficulty selections for explorer areas - are a brilliant idea.

Its true that if you built a rouge to simply do traps at end game... von 5 epic seems to be the only quest that you would have use for... and definitly gimp the dps... but what about when epic GH comes... or future epics in previously existing areas or even new adventure packs that are released epic from the get go... I dont play the beta server so I could be wrong, but I would think in the future the need for high dc trappers would go up. Sure it might be awhile down the road but I would think someday they will come in handy. There has to be a way to build a high DC trapper for those insane epic trap dc's and provide some kind of additional party support so your still a benafit to your party.

ummm, it takes perhaps a minute to get to the quest, much less time than it takes to get to most quests in most explorer areas.
Unless you are going out of your way to engage/alert opponents, you should not be getting more than a green alert as you close in on the quest entrance (based on running that quest about a dozen times). Kill but a couple of the pirates and even green won't show up. Now I grant you I know the layout of Searing Heights better than most players, but even sticking to the roads might only get you a yellow if you fail to kill anything.
