One of my favourite quests is Tear of Dakhan. However, yesterday was the first time I have EVER run the full optionals on the quest, in back to back runs, on elite. The first time through I did not join those that went along the ridge over the waterfall to get the golem. I tried jumping a couple times but missed so I sat in the waterfall and ranged some mobs for fun while I listened to all the screams for help coming from above, lol. They got it done though. On the second run, different PUG, I tried jumping and missed. Not to be left out on two runs back to back when it was the first time I was doing all the optional I jumped out of the water, up the stairs and onto the ridge. Here I go, I made it. Wow, that guy is big!! Smack, I am dead, just like that (squishy rogue did not have time to get into stealth mode due to being awestruck at the size of this thing). It was so funny. While I was dead (along with a couple others) I watched as the remaining brave hero's of our quest slowly.....I mean slowly, beat down the golem. Now I can vaguely remember taking on one of these golem types before but for the life of me cannot remember what works best against them to take them down quicker. Any suggestions as my buddy wants to run it on elite again (he was not with me) and I would like to be prepared when I list the LFM. Second, do you have to take down the golem to do the optional? Is it just a chest up there or is one of the tear shards up there too? Third, and a big question for me is, can my assassin build rogue use sneak against a clay golem? Thanks all.

A bludgeoning weapon made of adamantine (or with the metalline property) will bypass the Damage Reduction.
Construct Bane (Lesser, Normal, or Greater) adds extra damage against it.
Smiting has the ability to instantly slay it if it fails it's fortitude save.
As a Rogue, Wrack Construct is also available to add extra damage against constructs (like clay golems).

Smiting has the ability to instantly slay it if it fails it's fortitude save and has a Hit Dice of 23 or lower.
23 is the Fortifiude save DC, not an HD limit. It is Banishing weapons that have an HD limit.

It should be mentioned that Smiting is also prevent by deathblock and boss immunities.

don't forget to bring your remove curse pots/wands, because he can and will curse you if he gets a chance. his curse will prevent you from being healed, so it's important to be able to deal with it, especially since you'll have to deal with one or two big encounters in the villiage and behind the exit door.

I get it now. I just had an "ah hah" moment.

There are so many details and caveats with every single thing in this game that even the most anal retentive person would miss one or two of them, thus leaving themselves open to the correction monster. :D

Perfect forum formula, or forumula.

Slip 'o the mind and edited. I forgot for a bit there that weapons of smiting are just renamed versions of Greater Construct Slaying property.

I think the only part of the question that hasn't been addressed is the sneak attack damage... From a PnP background my immediate answer is "no", constructs are immune to sneak attack and crits. I'm not certain if this holds in the DDO world, but I suspect so. Someone did mention the enhancements for handling constructs available to rogues.

This.

is important advice, and why I'm bumping it. To nag the OP. :p

"Dont forget to bring curse removal!"
