Do rangers have a Dex requirement for acquiring TWF at lvl2 or do they automatically get it regardless?

They get it no matter what Dexterity score they have.

If you are only going to say 6 Ranger... you still will need a 17 Base Dexterity to pick up GTWF later however.

*Edit*

And I'm caught

going 6 ranger will give you ITWF, you'll only need a 17 for GTWF ;)

Ranger get the granted feats (TWF at level 2, iTWF at level 6, and gTWF at level 11) when they hit that level and regardless of whether or not they have met the (dex) prerequisites. However, keep in mind that:

1. If you're splashing less than 11 levels of ranger, then you'll still need to have 17 dex somehow to get gTWF later on.
2. Although rangers are granted the feats automatically, most people who take or splash ranger will be getting the tempest prestige enhancement. One of the prerequisites (Dodge) for tempest requires 13 dex.

This means that in all likelihood, just because you're getting those feats for free doesn't mean that you can treat dex as a "dump stat" (i.e. a stat that you don't put points into). You will likely still need to have 13 dex to get tempest, or 17 dex if only splashing a few levels of ranger (6 being the most common) to get gTWF later down the line.

As stated by everyone in this thread... rangers get free twf feats and the degree of which to impart it depends on how much ranger you wish to include in the build... I'd like to relate something else here though, Dex is actually a terrible stat to treat as a dump stat for most classes.

minor - your ranged to-hit is based off it - throwing inclusive.
moderate - reflex save is determined from it's mod
major - if you have evasion see #2 ... you can run mod by feating in insightful reflex but that eats up a precious feat slot.
