You cast a level 15 stoneskin, which gives DR10/Adamentine and absorbs 150 hit point of damage.
A mob hits you for 25 non-adamentine damage. 10 points is taken off due to DR10/Adamentine. So you take 15 damage, But how much is actually been absorbed? Is it 10 points? 15? 25?
In other words, how many hits will it take for the stoneskin spell to expire with incoming 25 non-adamentine damamge? 15 hits? 10 hits? 6 hits?

The total left is reduced by 10 in that case.
So in essence, if you're getting hit for more than 10hps per hit, Stoneskin gives you DR 10/adam for as many hits as you have levels.

[Incoming Damage] - [Damage Taken] = Damage Absorbed.
In high level quests, stoneskin usually absorbs its max, 10 damage, per hit.

then i believe for incoming 25 non-adamentine dmg, 150hp stoneskin will absorb 10 hits before expiring, right?

15 hits. 25 Damage comes in. Stoneskin absorbs 10 of it, meaning you take 15 points of damage. Having absorbed 10 points of damage, the counter goes down from 150 to 140.

Then if you get hit for 1 point, it will all be absorbed, and will deduct down to 139.

I tend to find stoneskin more useful at lower levels than high - if you're taking 50 damage in a swipe, reducing to 40 is nice & can help keep you alive a little longer for some healing, but you're still gonna get walloped pretty hard. At low levels though, when enemies are doing 15 damage or less per hit it pretty much just makes you invulnerable for a short time :) I like it best for reducing the damage from archers, they can be very annoying if you're trying to use a switch or something and arrows keep interrupting you.
