Hey,

I'm having some trouble with my wizard, so I started a new one. However, I'm not sure what I should use, stat-wise. I have:

INT Maxed out
Wis with a +4 modifier
Everything else with a +0

Should I scrap the other stuff and just pump it all into constitution, int, and wis? Help!

I had originally assumed you were giving us base stats, but that is not possible with the numbers you give.

STR 10 (2 points)
DEX 10 (0 points)
Con 10 (4 points)
INT 18 (16 points)
WIS 18 (16 points)
CHA 10 (0 points)

As you can see, this means you have used a 38 point build as an elf. I am assuming now that these stats include your gear, AP, and possibly level points. Regardless, I would not play this character in it's current state. Will saves are nowhere near important enough to justify so many build points. I would almost always use it as a dump stat on a straight wizard. Also, I would strongly advise changing races. Elves get - to con, and + to dex. Your dex is useless, as your AC will be garbage on 98% of all caster builds, but the hit points your missing could be life and death. I'd recommend WF for self-healing, or Drow for max DCs. Human would be my 3rd option as their AP are very flexible. My stats would looke something like this (assuming 28 point Human build as I'm not sure you're VIP or have access to the others I mentioned above, or 32 point builds):

STR 10 (2 points) [This will help with carrying capacity, and melee at low levels to conserve mana]
DEX 8 (0 points)
CON 16 (10 points)
INT 18 (16 points)
WIS 8 (0 points)
CHA 8 (0 points)

With insightful reflexes, you Reflex Save will still be good. You could easily convert this to the ever-popular 18wizard/2rogue for evasion and trap skills.

You can take some inspiration from the Ingenious Sage build in this thread (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=232660).

I wanted to keep the elf mainly because of the class bonuses that they already have; resistance to sleep, etc. The weapon proficiency, too, and some enhancements (elven arcanum, etc.). Any suggestions for actually doing an elf? Also, I don't have enough points to get WF or Drow Elf.

Same stat allocation as in Kadran's post, CON would just be 14 instead due to the penalty.

Regarding elves: I have never seen a mob use a sleep spell, and as a wizard you will be using scepters for casting bonuses, if you melee you'll want to use Master's Touch and a big two-hander, so the proficiencies are really not worth much to you. Elven arcanum is not really worth the drawbacks of being an elf, IMO. 1AP = 15SP, 3AP = 30SP, 6AP=45SP, 10AP=60SP. Without WF I would recommend human.

But really, do as you like, an elf wizard is not optimal, but it's certainly doable.

P.S. - Take the Toughness feat.
P.P.S - Get Heavy Fortification as soon as possible.
