I couldnt sleep the other night and thought og somethin interesting:

In other games there are diferent guild houses with some sort of perma effect (like +1000 hp, + to regen rate, etc)

why not have it here?

You go to an NPC in market and claim some area(read suggestions under!) for PP (i cant really decide price thou)
You get your area and then talk to same NPC you claimed it for to build Shrines and Altars for guild points(''guild points'' a would-be contribution by guild members or you)
And woops you got your boosts, and all guild members can access that place so it would be like a guild hide-out wich could be used for hanging-out or somethin like that.
On top of that at that area could be a tavern-like place with 3 NPC's (bar-keeper, soul binder and guild quest giver) and class trainers

Area suggestions:
Gianthold-like place
City-like place
Jungle-like place
Jungle of Khyber-like place
Dreams of insanity-like place
Sewers-like place (could be fun having a hide-out in there like kobolds :D

Shrines and Altars:
+10 hp/upgrade altar (10 upgrades)
+20 sp/upgrade shrine (10 upgrades)
+1d6 damage (burst when upgraded) monster statue (can be bought between fire elemental(adds fire damage, DUH!) , earth elemental (adds physical damage), ice mephit, beholder (adds lightning damage), ooze (adds acid damage), spider (adds wounding 1 damage instead of 1d6, and puncturing instead of burst), should be something that adds sonic damage but i cant thing of any monsters with it,
+10% healing recieved/upgrade angel-like statue (3 upgrades)
+1% hp /upgrade altar (5 upgrades)
+1% sp /upgrade shrine (5 upgrades)
+1 dr-magic/upgrade construct (10 upgrades)
+1 stat/upgrade statue (warrior for STR, bard for CHA, barbar for CON, wizard for INT, cleric for WIS, rogue for DEX) can choose only 1 stat

shrines should stack with feats/items

Quests:

Assault (defend yout guild house!): 2 chests + additional contribution from each member participating
Attack! (attack another randomly-made guild house, RAID!): 5 chests + more contribution from each member
Note: randomly-made guild house includes monsters based on character's lvls
Note #2: unlike other quest there shouldn't be any ''powerlevel'' in guild quests and repition should't be penalized(but exp should be 300 exp/player lvl) since its considered as guild activity and should encourage smaller and higher players quest together and continue doing it.

those things could make more people join guilds or make them (right now i made a guild only cuz i like name, and i dont really bother making more players join) and making more activities together. not to mantion how much it could help ingame (maybe to much with ''burst'' upgrade on moster statue thou)

Please reply and tell me what u think! :)

Sigh :(

I think the appropriate reply would be /facepalm...lol

OP, there is a rather EXTENSIVE ongoing discussion on this in numerous places if you should decide to do a forum search.

lol. since this is an instance based game, making a guild hall would be easy.

the question is. do we actually need them?

Probably not, i can go to the tavern as a cleric and dring 1 gallandra and heal my entire party in a very short few seconds, then be out the door with full SP all within 1 minute. granted, thats only if everybody is bound to the same tavern.

Now on the other hand, if they did things such as a guild hall, then i could see them making some form of a guild bank and obviously it would suck to be the guild leader because they are the one footing the bill to own the place and for the bank slot. I couldnt see Turbine making a guild hall that didnt cost real $ even if the leader of the guild was VIP. They make everything cost so much =x

theres also other aspects of a guild hall that are probably best to leave them out of the game. i mean, if you just get a guild hal, no perks, no buffs. then its quite obvious its a wasted script on the server that will bog it down with random people just sitting in the hall. another instance is another instance server side.

but it could be made fairly beneficial if they created them, by making NPC's in the guild hall that buff your chars, or vendors that will sell and buy things for you. or even put all them ******** collectibles guys in 1 friggen place rather than trekking across all of the **** storm reach trying to find a guy who wants your wooden idol.

wow now heres an idea, a fully competent collectables vendor who will take all of the collectables. save me 45 minutes of tracking down the little bastids.

I like the idea of having a guild house, but most of the extra stuff you mentioned wouldn't be needed, like the shrines, and the idea of putting in new quests just for the guild, and making them random, seems like to much. Really a guild house would be something simple, a place for guildmates to hang out without all the lag and such of the populated areas, perhaps a guild chest to put items in that other players in the guild might need/want, but thats about it. Remember my motto, K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. (this is a personal motto, not directed at anybody, but it works.)

so you are all essentially 'hanging out' already....additionally, there are already taverns all over Stormreach where you can rest/heal/sell if you prefer not running to the brokers.

Part of the allure of the collectables is using the turn ins to see the city, plus, it would probably be a mess of coding to create one NPC to take all collectables.

Additionally, the House P and House J favor rewards are unlocked by questing, by putting in a 'buffer' in a guild house scenario you completely negate the favor rewards for these two houses AND make joining a guild paramount to success at lower levels.

There is enough lag already without creating a large amount of static instances for people to come and 'hang out' in IMO. If you want to hang out with your guild, you can, hang out in an explorer area/common area and talk in guild chat all you want.

I would think guild banks would be easier to implement as a add on to the House K bank, when you go into a bank, have an additional tab or window for a guild bank, but not a serious need IMO there either, if you have some decent loot, hang onto it and let any in the guild that may be able to use it know that you have it available.

I could see in very large guilds where that could be an issue, but really, in a very large guild, seems to me that you are just replacing general chat with a smaller, albiet just as confusing, general chat and usually there are cliques formed in larger guilds anyway which in effect become mini-guilds.

The only way I could see guild housing working is if they made it completely customizable, inside and out. Add trophies to the game that you can hang on walls, or place in the yard, like in LOTRO. Add a guild chest for shared items. (which opens the whole security issue of "some new guildy emptied out our guild chests!".) Add a new teleport destination to "Guild House" on all spells and teleport rods, or at least a new in game item, like a "House Key" that can be used as a clicky to teleport you there. Add a bind point at the guild house.

On top of all of that, have monthly contests for "Best Guild Hall", which would give the guild free upgrades to housing items, or free Turbine Points, something along those lines, to get people interested in making their house look good.

All of these could be upgraded in the DDO store, which is the way to go IMO.

Default guild chest that stores 10 items, which can be upgraded to 20 items, or 30.
Ability to purchase a general vendor and banker.
New themes, or items to decorate the house with, all purchased from the DDO store.

Add in a monthly housing fee of a set amount of plat or TP, depending on which house you have (if they have different sizes)

I myself probably won't use it much, other than the guild bank, but I know a lot of people who would spend hours decorating the house if they did it right.
