Bad enough they are not prepared to run the shroud or anything else as they've been riding the coat tails of so many people to get to the shroud, but now they are clicking the portals because they are ****ed?

Yup, this is why we are building up the Archangels and I'm sticking to people I know again and staying away from pugs, unless it's a low risk quest that I can solo if I have to (just have to find someone to build me a toon I can solo with... :).)

It would be quicker to recall and reform with a group of competent players then wait for all the casters to use the pools. Now with everyone having a ton of teleport rods from the birthday event you dont even need to waste time recalling :D

Problem is nowadays, there is such a stark dichotomy of players out there.

I guess this is why I see guys like Gax, Impaqt and so many others that I respect, creating teams from only their friends list or filling primarily with friends and then opening up the LFM to people they recognize or have been told about.

Yup, that would have been an idea to recall and reform so the offending person lost out completely, but what if you don't know who that offender was.

Just best not to pug anymore if it matters... sad, but true.

As someone who runs a shroud or 2 almost every night I have to say I have not seen this happen one time yet. often I wind up with many random puggers in the groups as well.

Worst thing I've seen lately is someone who was Waiting for a ride but neglected to tell anyone.. We started without him. He then tried to make the run and get in.. Of course, he didnt make it... So he recalled out, then zoned back in so we all lost the 10% no re-entry bonus.....

Wasnt one of the runs I was leading.....

I don't think it's a *** hat move to recall out. I would just let the party know what I was doing. By the time all the casters clerics run the pools back to full SP you could have already been back to Part 3 without the idiot who doesn't deserve to even be in a group. Was in a PUG Hound about 6 months ago and people started using "slang" terms for an asian member of the party. I recalled out, contacted a GM, and stayed in party so I could identify who was saying what. Should I have stayed and helped the ****heads who were completely out of line? Sorry, but not wasting my play time with people who take away from the game as a whole.

No disrespect intended, but read back what I stated.

I do pug, and I pug a fair bit, but only on quests that I really don't care as much about. If it's a TOD or something like that, I stick primarily with friends. Doesn't have to be exclusive, but mostly friends and / or vets.

Honestly, when I first started I wasn't as bad as a number of the people I'm seeing over this past while, due to the fact that I ask questions, learn and ensure I'm taking care of myself and others and pulling my weight.

What we are seeing from these new players at the level 15+ range is actually rediculous. By the time I got to that level I knew that carrying potions was a forgone conclusion and be courteous to others and listening to the leader of the group was a basic minimum and if I didn't know something I would make sure I asked and was relatively decent and polite about it.

The people I'm seeing too much of are lacking all or most of what I stated in the above.

So I and other vets take calculated risks on newer players and help out a little here and there, but I recommend the newer players actually do a little work on their own to learn the game, rather than mostly ride people with experience. A lot of the vets are happy to spend time to help newer players, myself included, but there should be a minimum expectation from us that they could at least go online and do some homework on the game... yes/no?

Not really sure how Alter helped them? That makes absolutely no sense.

All the skills in the world make some things almost impossible or lacking of sense to continue. Too many people have spent too many resources trying to help finish raids. I can give you too many stories about where I've been one of either the last person or last couple and pulled out raids and have either used resources or not to get it done, only to have no one say thanks or anything and just loot and drop. So we have griefers and people who don't appreciate what some do. So, why should we do so?

Oh, and you obviously haven't run with Alter, because if recovery is possible or worth it, he will make it happen.

really though, most of us are 20th level and we only need 2 or 3 to finish it, one being a healer with a bar that could be filled up in the pool.

If it was not for part 1 and 2 needing others to make it happen quicker, we could all 2 or 3 man this rather nicely..and it would be much cooler.

but 3 manning the portals? oh for the love of pete, hit me with a brick.

I was in two griefs last week after part 4.

We tried everything but could not come up with a conclusive way to figure out who did it.


and on a side note, I remember many people that used to bail after one or two because they were farming....but did not tell anyone about it until they left. That was back when cap was 16 and the raid was still new.

many of those people run shroud completions today and are all 'we complete, no grief, etc'......my how things changed there.

Far as weak pugs and ruining raids....Mini, remember that Shroud a few months before you left where someone dragged everything (red and trash) to the sw? You peons who are talking about us "elitists" need to wisen up - we can clean up your mess just fine - its just more fun for us in our game time to not have to. Not only did he and I clear everything, but we were the only ones who survived, and since he was on a fleshy barb and I on Wizzly (wf wizard at the time) I couldn't reconstruct him and was hitting him with heal scrolls.

The fact that his post made you this cranky tells me he hit the nail right on the head on this one. Not only did you interpret his post in the worst possible way, and take offense at something that was not intended as an attack on you in the first place, but your defense mechanism kicked in and the well rehearsed digs and rants about skill level began pouring out, which is something I see far too much of in this game.

I did read what you said and, as stated, I can absolutely understand where you are coming from. I commented concerning the frustration obvious in those parts of your posts quoted, not to discount your willingness to aid newer players.
not trying to pick an argument here, though stating that you stick to your friend's list unless it is a quest you can easilly solo (and btw, judging by your forum presence, mosts posts I have read from you and general rep I don't believe you have any problems soloing mostly anything out there) it is likely that none of the newer ppl can shine unless all that it would take is not to fall under the category of those select few or not so few idiots, that give the rest of us a bad name by ignoring basic party etiquette and/or acting out their rl-IQ.

I don't think it was the same run, but funny, Impaqt/Allendale has been associated with DWAT for quite some time, and I'm sure he was on his cleric that is in Archangels, but who knows, I could be wrong. I was on my Paladin Miserye if that helps. DWAT has a great bunch of people and I've run with them a number of times over the years and have never failed on a run or failed to have a blast with them.

Ya, good idea on WW. Maybe when we both have completionist we can try and duo that horror.

Well, thanks to you and because of the mentality / personality of the guild we are establishing, I did pick up a number of puggers last night for an easy raid - Hound (although I've heard of a number of recent failures on it) and it went quite well. One of the people, an unknown person to me sent me a tell, asking if I wanted a Rogue on the team. I responded with... Hmm... aren't Rogues just for disabling traps (reminded me of a thread we have going on the forums). He sent a LOL message back, so that was good enough for me and I picked him up. Then he pms me to tell me that he's only read / heard a bit about the Hound and hasn't been able to get onto a team. Luckilly my friend and guildmate Impaqt/Alandale is on team and he takes over and runs a clinic hound in about 5 minutes. The Rogue responds with, ****, didn't realize it was that easy. A few of us chuckled and let him know it doesn't always go so well, but when you have a team like we had with mostly vets, it usually does, but one person not listening or acting like a tard can mess it all up very quickly. So, we told him to be aware of that. He responds with... f that... I'm just going to run with you guys. haha

Long story short, I will always take a chance on a pugger, but will communicate very clearly with them, expect the unexpected and hope for the best. Most times it works out and if it doesn't, remember that not all new players / puggers are tards.

Been there, done that, bored of it.

Been so long and too many people that just sit around all day, 24/7 playing this game and playing in the pits, waiting to prove how cool they are.

The only times I've taken on people in the pit is when they challenged me, and that was back when I played the game regularly enough to have a toon that could PVP worth a ****.

My toons are so far from being able to PVP nowadays, would prefer to just ignore people like that, but who knows, might make a special trip for you... and ya, I and everyone else know you are just trying to goad.

Seriously, chances are you won't find out who it was, so its just as good a chance that he makes it into your reform if you don't even try part five, so you're just screwing over the rest of your party for the sake of throwing an emorage.

You try and have a discussion around a subject, perhaps illuminate some, and one troll comes in and takes a shot / personal attack and then laughter ensues and some people think it's funny.

I can't figure out how saying "I'm going to sit and pike the end fight cause I am mad at 1/11th of the rest of the party" makes someone be at the top of the food chain.
Yes, whoever hit that portal doesn't deserve completion, however, the other people do, and might have limited time. Its not fair to force them to not get completion (Or to force the clerics to expend more resources potentially keeping the diminished DPS of the party alive for the kill).
I've rolled around in pools to get two thousand SP back on a cleric before, I know it sucks, but it takes what? Five minutes tops, and thats if your going slow? Its a sucky waste of time, but its not the end of the world.

Well. Somsone made the mistake of clicking the portal before our last cleric was shrined up. Funny thing about it is only 3 guilds were in the group. Was very easy to isolate this guild.

They will be on my ban list for raids until next week friday. Good thing i'm running lowbies most of the time.

what we need is a way to find out who clicked it....for sure.

Instead of insta death, make the portal from 4-5 like a RUNE that takes a few seconds, so everyone can see EXACTLY who is messing with it

This is more than one isolated incident. The OP might be bringing up one specific time this happened but I have seen this happen quite a few times.

There are either a lot of "easy mistakes" being made, or its griefing.

This happened on two of my last 3 shroud runs. Its griefing in my opinion and I recommend every stay way back from the portal at the end of part 4 to help identify the perpetrators.
