1) What is the highest DR currently possible in the game while blocking?
2) Do we know what enemies can bypass DR/adamantine?

2) Do we know what enemies can bypass DR/adamantine?
I asked this question before except it was phrased only to include "enemies of note" (raid content or high-end quests).
The only reply I got was the Stormreaver, and that isn't very important given how hard he hits (which is not hard at all even on elite).
I have no idea if that one reply makes a conclusive "list" though.

my fighter has a 42 dr/- if he is shield blocking
stalwart defender tier 3
leviks defender shield
shield mastery (will be taking it away)
in theory i could get him to 45 dr/- if i took improved shield mastery
he NEVER uses a shield anyways i sit around a 72 AC in TWF mode so....

Thank you for the replies so far.
Has the community not yet compiled a list of DR/Adamantine bypassing enemies??! I dare not believe it.

For my human fighter, 20th level, I believe baring some epic stuff, your DR while blocking will be 39.
A stalwart gets 6/- (not even adamantine gets through it) just by holding a shield.
Other races, as noted above, have much higher DR aspects during all or some kind of combat.
shield blocking does not always guarantee the DR. Depends on the typeof monster, type of attack, and maybe even facing. It is hard to tell.
To make a monster manual would be easy if turbine helped, and even updated when they made changes. I do not think it is humanly possible to spend months going through all mobs and then redoing it every hotfix or update to see what they changed.
It is unfortunate, because a monster manual would be awesome. However, they also take the same monster and modify it for certain dungeons..then there are red, orange, purple nameds....oh sigh.

Go do a hunt for Mr. Cows compendium. That would probably list it.

Missing_Minds, nada. Tried it a while back and found nothing.
MrWizard, that makes all too much sense. I hadn't thought of how difficult it would be to organize and update such a list. Maybe I'm just getting spoiled by "The Definitive Items List" et al...
So perhaps I can modify my question then -- base it more on types than individualities.
If you have, say, 10/Epic, would everything on epic end up bypassing that? I'm just curious about how often DR/- is [i]actually[/] better than DR/anythingelse. I understand the difference, but I'm thinking that the number of transmuting wielding enemies/bosses is really quite low.

I have no idea what 10/Epic means other than nothing will bypass that except whatever 'epic' is...perhaps it just means it will not work in epic dungeons.
6/- is better dr. the item after the slash says what gets through it. So 6/adamantine means you would get 6DR against all attacks, but adamantine will get through.
6/- is supposed to mean nothing gets through it.
However I find that many spells ignore that like fireballs and walls...at least in my log it does not show up.

All spells ignore DR, even the ones that deal 'physical' damage like blade barrier.
DR/epic is bypassed by epic weapons (enhancement bonus of +6 or greater).
I am not sure how they calculate for creatures with natural attacks in DDO (in pen and paper, the creature would gain the ability to penetrate epic damage reduction with its natural attacks if it possessed epic damage reduction itself).
DR/- is always the best to pursue if you can get it, since it is the only absolute form of damage reduction.
It's nice for peace of mind to know that your DR can never be broken no matter what foe you are facing.
DR/adamantine is still very reliable though. You just have to keep an eye out for the few creatures that can break through it and adjust your play style accordingly against them.

Monks get 10 DR/Epic, which is why I used that particular example. I have yet to test how much of epic quests feature DR/Epic bypassing enemies...
I do know, of course, how DR works. I would hate to add another "Does this DR stack?" forum to the list. ;)
DR/- is to DR/Adamantine what, say, a transmuting weapon is to an adamantine one: simply much, much better.
My interest is in the ratio of DR/Adamantine breaking enemies to non DR/Adamantine breaking enemies -- especially in raids. I might try to be more accurate and ask, hypothetically, if:
You would rather have a 5 DR/- or a 10 DR/Adamantine, if you could only choose one.
My reason for posting this in the Fighter Section in the forums is that I'm sure some fighter tank has already debated this kind of situation before.

I feel like I've either asked a stupid question or an unanswerable one.

I believe the only mob that bypasses adamantine at the moment is the stormreaver.

The named orc in the shroud as well. I actually bug reported because I thought it was an error. I would imagine there's at least a few more.
