Confused about Bard spell - when I get blur and....?

I leveled a bard to lvl 3. I thought I would be able to get the spell blur at lvl 2 and summon monster III at lvl 3. I'm missing something maybe because at lvl 3 bard I was still being offered stuff from the lvl 1 spell menu. Err, confused? At what level will I be offered Blur and Monster III?

Bards gain new spell levels every 3rd level. so 2nd level spells at 4th, 3rd level at 7th, 4th at 10th, 5th at 13th, and 6th at16th. wizards gain new spell levels every other level. same for clerics. sorc's gain thiers 1 level behind wizards. i haven't played a favored soul, so i can't tell you their progression.

I think Favored Soul follows the same progression as Sorcerer.

errr, i didnt see in the wiki where it says bards get spells every 3rd lvl

what does that mean sor get it behind wiz? you mean if wiz gets it every other lvl sor gets it every 3rd like bard?

In other words, for getting high lvl spells the quickest - a Wizard rules???

ddowiki is generally more clear than the compendium. I recommend you check there first for most things :)

They get access to the next spell level every 3 levels.

They get access to the next spell level every 3 levels.

Just don't expect seventh level spells at level 19. Bards get their last level of spells at level 16, so this rule doesn't work after that. It is a good rule of thumb to keep in mind though.
