I'm trying to come up w/ a Fighter spec that is viable for solo play... would a splash rogue for UMD be viable?

Or are there any better options I should be looking in to?

Now that they have casual sure everything goes.

But, previous to this update solo meant mana bar or stealth. And then even the stealth option is no longer as viable for certain quests due to door / barrier changes.

for solo play, i would go warforged 18 wiz, 2 rogue. or there was a solo vod build posted 17 clerc, 2 monk, 1 rogue. i think thats the right mix, but check the cleric forums to be sure.

going to cost you a fortune in pots unless you keep your umd up imo. I would go with one other splash of ranger or some other wand using class as you wont get you capstone ne ways so 18 fighter and ?????? you pick just my 2 cps tho do what you want and have fun ...

If splashing rogue, I'd go with two levels for evasion. There will be quests where wearing light armor with evasion will be beneficial. Take rogue at level 1 and save the other for around level 10. At each of these levels, max out UMD (1 to 1 versus the 2 to 1 cost as a cross class skill). You also still hit your tier 3 PrE at ftr 18.

UMD:
23+3cha+4gh+6shroud+3skillfocus= 39 for no fail heal scrolls.

I don't see any reason to NOT go 2 Rogue if you are already losing the fighter capstone.

That's how I went with my new Elf, scimitar wielding, Fighter/Rogue. 18/2 split.

5 or so ranks in Open Lock is all you really need, forget disable device.

Don't forget to take stunning blow too.
