I suppose my problem is minor as I am able to play the game fine but I have an small yet annoying issue and I wonder if anyone knows a fix.
When I first played DDO on my arthritic XP machine and quit the game it behaved properly and the program shut down as it should. I bought a new machine with Vista 64-bit and after the install no icon was made to launch the game. I used the DDO shortcut info on my wife's computer (XP) as a template and created a shortcut to the turbineinvoker.exe and the game ran fine. However when I shut down the game, either by logging out and exiting or just quitting from ingame, the invoker shut down to the desktop and then popped up again in my taskbar as if I'd minimized the program. If I clicked on the taskbar icon the launcher reran (loading up as if I'd clicked the shortcut again) and I would have to right-click, exit to make the program finally shut down.
When my Win 7 64-bit disk arrived I slicked the HDD and installed a clean copy of DDO and again, no program icon was created on the desktop and I had to make another shortcut. The same exit behaviour is exhibited again; if I shut down the game an icon opens up in the taskbar and clicking on it gives me the black rolling die and then it wants to run again requiring me to right-click and exit the program.
So overall a minor issue as my ability to play is not impacted, but I do wonder why the program seems so eager to keep running when I don't want to play any more! I have checked and nothing is being run as an administrator if that makes a difference.
