You can spend the platinum, gold, silver, and copper coins with vendors in the game. There's a guy named Dax in Korthos village who will sell you arrows, bolts, normal weapons, and armor. In taverns, the barkeeper will sell you various types of food and drink that you can consume in the tavern to heal up quicker, but those don't work for you in a quest. Just use them to recover faster if you die.

When you get more money you can afford to buy magic items from vendors in the city of Stormreach or use it to bid on items in listed at any of the Auctioneers.

The DDO store panel is only used for buying things with Turbine Points (TP), which you can earn very slowly in the game, or purchase for real money. This is where you can buy Adventure Packs, for example. Don't waste your TP buying magic items here. You can find or purchase those in the game itself.
