View Full Version : Bailing on your shroud group at the start of part 5

Just a quick warning, there's a unguilded cleric out there starting to build a reputation in shrouds. They bailed on the completion shroud group I was in during the start of part 5. Faked a DC, then left party, not realizing we can all see it as a leave party when they switch toons.
Not cool for the other 11 party members to carry the load. I think its time for Turbine to move all chests to the end of part 5.

Well, just another reason to just run with friends and / or good guilds that you recognize.
I was always leary about unguilded players, but there are a few that are so for good reason and they are cool players to team with. Obviously not the case here.
:(
And, another reason to learn how to do anything without Clerics.
One of the best lessons I continue to learn... how to do as much as you can without clerics or any other so called "de facto standard" classes required for certain raids and quests.

Unfortunately with people clicking the altar before other people can get out this is becoming more the norm. The proper way (for the cleric) would be to burn out mana taking the first round of healing and bail when harry gets below a fourth or when OOM and DVs. The other thing is to start keeping track and telling (by PMs of course) names of people with symptoms of premature click-jackulation.
That being said bailing before success is guaranteed is poor form. The other 11 people were expecting you to do your part to make the run successful.

The 'proper' thing is to just complete the quest. There is very little to be gained from recalling out anyway... I still say it's poor design on Turbine's part to allow this.

The cleric left before the 4 red names were dead and before big red even came down. We completed, though the other healer had to drink a few majors as I believe there were some first time shrouders in the group.

I agree that proper is to finish, which I now always do. There have been occasions that have chose not to tho. When I had everything I needed to do my Min II upgrade, but was lacking a small shard I did run a few times to get it. (The drop rate still needs upped on small shards BTW they are way to rare but that is another rant) Also I have ran my cleric through there to help some friends out who asked, but didn't finish so he could run with guild later on that night. If you are not going to finish for any reason tho you should extend the courtesy to the other 11 to ensure that the quest succeeds, and let them know so that they can plan accordingly. That was what I said, and what I did when I was not finishing.
I am not arguing that what (s)he did was WAY wrong, nor defending their actions in any way.
I refer you to my final statement: That being said bailing before success is guaranteed is poor form. The other 11 people were expecting you to do your part to make the run successful.

Problem with this is if the raid wipes before the end of part 5 then you get nothing.

There are clerics on Thelanis?
Just add him to your friends list.

There may be perfectly legitimate reasons for the cleric bailing out. Several just off the top of my head: 1) allergic to guaranteed large ingredients; 2) allergic to group contentment; 3) allergic to success; 4) fear of tier 3 alters; and 5) fear of shallow hp/mana regen pools.

Just made Legion's (surprisingly short) Blacklist.
I'm sure Pyro wouldn't mind sending you the name. Just PM him.

Can you send me a PM. I tend to form Shroud pugs if I don't see one up and would like to make sure everyone gets their compleation. I understand everyone has goals and they don't always mix with what I want but I will help others compelate.
I may run it 3 times before I finish, need ingrediants and loot is nice, but I always list compleation for those that wish or DD after part 5, and don't like it when someone bails on my group before things are done.
Bailing is bad form and I don't like to give up until everyone is dead.

I cant wait for the return of that murder machine.
He is gonna wipe PuG after 1-4 no completion PuG.
Go in expecting him to be a pillow after the update.
They are scurrying like rats as I write to farm farm farm...
Thank you Turbine for giving a raid boss his solemn dignity back.
He is gonna get smoted in part 4, granted, but at least he can go down swinging.
Shroud 1-3 no completion runs on Wednesday? anyone?

That is a horrible thing to happen. I would imagine that quickly this person will get a reputation and not be able to get any group for the shroud at all. I seem to remember being in a group where a fighter (who did virtually nothing all quest) did exactly the same thing, by the time the rest of us got out he already had another shroud group put up.
Any good community minded person would certianly warn other players against this kind of playing. As a general note and I can only speak for myself but even if I am not complete the last part I will play as if I am, after all I am part of a group and I have only got so with their help and so they most certainly deserve 100% my effort to complete.

It really is a cowards way out... add to friends, set a message; Crappy player, leaving without a word and press update.
then you got that dude listed permanently...
I've started using the friends list on all i play with ....
xxxxx ~ good tank, informative, speaks alot (sigh) or
xxxxx ~ sir talk alot, good player
and so forth ... veeery effective...
also use ddo.com to look up players.... eg if you join a VOD hard and suspect a player not having gear, well look on his equipment style in myddo.com
I did that yesterday and found a rogue without fortification wanna take on elite orthons... :P
so downgraded raid to normal and all went "well" ...

Hahaha, you myddo'd someone, they didn't have Fort on in that moment, and you assume they don't have it. I love it! You do realize that myddo does not tell all what a character carries. Cause if I'm selling loot to a vendor, I know there are 3 items I wear that I would not wear in combat on my characters. I sure hope you never myddo my wizard when i'm in the tavern not wearing my +9 int ring. You might ASSume I can't cast spells.

A rather well known player was doing this a couple weeks back.

im aware of the time shift issue with when they update myddo.com in relation to what's one might equip at another time (quest wise).
but if you quest with a lvl 16 and notice some serious issues with his dps or whatnot... then looking on myddo.com can give a VERY good hint as to where the problem lies... perhaps even give some advice which by many are appreciated...
OR just kick the player because he will jepordize the entire run :-)
