would someone point out a link or explain how to get a second client installed?

Is it as simple as downloading it again into a second folder and then overwrite the ddosetup application with the Lamania one ddosetup app?

Are you talking about a second client of DDO Lamma & DDO Lamma or DDOu & DDOu or DDOu + DDO Lamma?

Having DDOu & DDO Lamma on one PC is easy, you just need to install to a separate folder.

If you want two clients of say DDOu so you can run at the same time, you need to create a partition on your hard drive and install the second version there. Then as long as your PC can handle it you can have two separate clients (two accounts) running.

or if I made things way too confusing, this link may help:

Agreed, more information about what exactly it is you want to do is required before anyone can point you in the right direction for sure.

Additionally, if you are looking to dual Box (ie play two different characters at one time, you need to have two COMPLETELY SEPERATE AND DISTINCT ACCOUNTS, with TWO DIFFERENT USER NAMES.

If you add a second key to your existing acocunt, all you are really doing is doubling your character allotment. If you try to log in two different characters at once this way, logging in the second one will log out the first.

But if you create twi distinct accounts, then you can log on two different characters at one time.

If I remember correctly, there was a post a while back (though it might have been purged around this time last year) that explained just exactly how to get two seperate clients of DDO to run on the same PC. And if I remember correctly, I think you had to bring up both log on screens (for the different clients which are installed in different folders with different shortcuts) at the same time, and have both accoutns signed in and on the server select screen before you click play. My memory is a bit fuzzy on this.

I'd recommend using 2 different computers, as it cuts down on the confusion as two how to control the different clients with one keyboard/mouse/pther input device of your choice and monitor.

Obviously you will need to accounts, but assuming you have them....

Step 1:
Just make a copy of the game folder in the C:\Progam Files\Turbine\{blah blah blah}

Step 2:
Make a new shortcut on your desktop for the DDOLauncher.exe

Step 3:
(The Trick) You have to start both clients and log in to both launchers before logging into a world. Once you log into a world you won't be able to start another client. It takes a little getting used to, but it isn't that hard..

Good luck...

Devious and quite handy.

Yes it is. But the biggest problem is how do you control both accounts? I would think that having to switch back and forth between two different windws could get bother some if you were actually questing with both accounts at the same time.

I saved to an external harddrive.

To control both accounts, don't have the game maximized then you can click back and forth between your two screens.

oops - should have been more specific.

Just want to run 1 at a time - had my fill of 2 and 3 boxing in other games.

I just want to check out the test server and the instruction where a bit vague as to what exactly to do.

Currently my ddo is installed in program files/ Turbine / DDo Unlimited

So what I need to do is download the TDM and another DDO unlimited to a seperate folder.

For example would C:\\program files\turbine\lamma be appropriate?

Then I copy dndsetup.exe (from Tolero's link on the forums) to this folder and run this to update?

I got this working this morning (I think) - thanks for the responses.
To clarify the instructions somewhat - you need to download the std res version (or the HQ version) into a download folder. Then download the dndsetup app as indicated in Tolero's post into the same directory. You do not need the download manager as that is the same file name as Tolero's lamannia link.

Then run the dndsetup app and the lamannia client will start downloading to a Lamannia folder by default.

Will check it out tonight - last night I know - but better late than never.

I usually do just that: switch from window to another when I run dual clients. Not too big a deal to ALT TAB from one to the other... I suppose I'm used to it...

And when the caffine is really kicking in, I've sometimes run two clients in two different parties - that's a rush !

So it seems you are trying to have both the DDO:U Live client installed as wel las the Lamannia Client installed? Is that correct?

In any event, you do not need to use the TDM to get the regular live client installed, just Lamannia.

yes sir

As I understand it you need all proper files in 2 different directories to be able to access the normal game and then test on lamannia client.

Other posts in here describe boxing accounts which is not somthing I want to do now. Maybe latter but would like to get some comparitive data tonight before this goes live.

I am a little late but will post any data on timers that I am able to test tonight.
