Seeking guild advice, hard to find a fit with such a big list

Hey all,

I am new to DDO but am a long time gamer. I am looking for some advice and suggestions for a guild fit. I cruised the looooonnnggg list and and got a few ideas but would like some more suggestions on which guilds fit better with what I am looking for. So here is some info on me and what my styles are like.

I am a 46-year old family man that has many years gaming experience. From pnp D&D 30+ years ago through numerous computer games single and multi player. I have played and GM pnp for 30 years. I played NWN on a number of servers running two different guilds and GMing on another server. I moved to WoW and played that for 5+ years. I was in 4 different guilds during that time. I was an officer in 3 of them and was elected guildmaster in 2. I left WoW because it became like a second job running the guild and the raids and it seems that the "average age" of the game continued to drop (you can only take so many Chuck Norris jokes in trade chat).
Played Eve for a while and tried a few other MMO's which brought me here.

I am looking for a casual guild that is centered around an older, more mature group that likes to have a good time, checks the drama at the door, and doesn't mind poking fun at each other. I have two teenage sons that play MMOs so I enjoy a family atmosphere too.
Lite roleplay is fine, no roleplay is fine too, not interested in "being in character" the whole time I am logged in.
I want to experience the content not "dash" through it.
I am looking for people that want to run quests and instances together and are more focused on improving everyone in the group than "gearing" themselves up. Selfish play just plain sucks.
I do want to raid at some point but am not a hard core raider. (4-5 days a week raiding in WoW became a second job, ugh)
I am in the central time zone, I am usually on weeknights between 6pm and 11:00pm and weekends.
would prefer Ventrilo to the in game voice but not a big deal.
I have 3 characters Pally(4), Sorcerer(3), and Rogue(2).

Not sure how far along in the game you have gotten or how attached to your characters on Thelanis. If you're fairly new to the game and would not mind rerolling on another server, The Unrepentant is a guild that just might fit you in DDO and other MMO's. We are an adult only guild (18+) that is part of a gaming community currently involved in many MMO's - you can play in one, a few or many games. Our website is unrepentantgaming.org where our guild application is contained. If you come across to Sarlona, we can help you out with levelling and equipment. Further, getting into the U provides a social experience through Vent as well as some gaming fun.

We have very few rules - essentially boils down to respect each other, play hard, have fun and avoid the usual guild BS. If this sounds like something you might enjoy, look us up on the website or send me a PM here. I'll help you out.

CLAW has been around for 15 years this January and only recruits those who are 18+ in age. We have chapters in other games in big numbers like EQ2 and DDO or in small numbers like DarkFall, Aion, DAoC and a few others.

I would suggest you check out www.C-L-A-W.org and read our charter to see if we are a good fit for you.

Also, there's a thread on here showing Thelanis guild size. You might want to jot down a few guild names and search them out. Some people like huge guilds, others just a core group of players. Then when you log in, sort the "who" tab by guild, see if any of those guilds have characters in your level range, then send a tell. The most important thing in guild, IMO, is to find who you like running with. If you go "big name" guild, it makes it a ton easier to find groups. However, if the social aspect is more important than grinding, just play around for a bit, keep tabs on who was fun/interesting to run with and go that route.

Either way, don't rush into it. Do some research (like you are doing :) ), and find a guild that you actually enjoy being in. I think it's sometimes turns sour when a new player jumps in a guild, has no benefits, makes no running buddies, then makes the decision that guilds suck.

I am wondering if you would like to join our guild. I will not promise fame and fortune as you can and probably have done all of that by yourself. I am hoping you might see potential in some of our younger members and may be willing to share your experience. You would definitely be an officer, though in a small guild I am sure you know that is just another term for do everything. We do have about 4 or 5 members in their 40s, so is not entirely a 20 something guild. Please consider us as you choose a guild, I have left the name of the guild and a description. I can only promise that the rewards of seeing young players learn the right way will be endless. Thank you for your time.

Credendo Vides is a small, but growing guild, mixing new players with experienced players. We welcome all serious, relaxed, team-players (pay-to-play & free-to-play) and strive to remain drama free. Credendo Vides is Latin, meaning: By Believing, One Sees. To many of the players of DDO, this sums up the game experience. To us in Credendo Vides, this is how we play our characters and therefore the game. We help our members develop and level their characters. A lot of our members are girls experiencing this game for the first time or even having played with their brothers and boyfriends. We also have guys who played paper & pen (tabletop) when D&D first came out, and know their rules. We do not try to cheat the game or the experience. We do share gold, items and knowledge with our newer members, as they develop and refine their characters, as they choose. Our guild preaches and teaches team play over solo play and we will start running multiple guild runs for quests. We are currently recruiting (see Holly or send tell) for like minded players.....
