Farm for large scales and sell them on the AH or forums. If you can pull 7 of them, you should have enough cash to buy those 7 scales you need :)
On a more serious note--that's a lot of cash. Pure loot runs where you sell to vendors won't get you there very quickly. Your best bet is to pull items you can sell on the AH or forums. Safe bets (not relying on rare drops) are: alchemical crafting ingredients; tapestries; GH collectibles; and blue scales. If you make runs for these, and post them at about 80% of the "going rate" on the AH, they'll sell well and you'll accumulate cash fairly quickly.

Inspired Quarter quests give mucho dinero. I'm currently working on getting other characters up to shroud level because I need 16 large scales . . . sooo yeah double your problem :(.
Also GH Tor, Orchard, and Devil battleground (taps, boot ingredients, shield ingredients, dragon scales).

You can also sell greensteel blanks for several hundred each, if you have the patience for that

Another good option--run the vale flag quests for greensteel ingredients (a reliable run) and make and sell greensteel items.

Make a few clerics or FvSs.
Honestly, at one point I had 2 clerics and a bard going full out on raids and mostly in the Shroud.
I have 3 main characters and 2 others I'm okay with and the rest all pharm for those 3.
Make a solo spec'ed Cleric that can level fast due to build and the fact you can fill teams as a cleric in seconds.
When I got low on cash, I would stop running my fav toons and bring out my mules to run stuff for plat.
Then pick the quests that have the most amount of chests, can be done FAST, etc.
Some people will focus on the quests that have 2 or 3 chests, but they may take 20 - 30 minutes to complete, whereas there are a few quests that only have 1 or 2 chests and can be done in 5 - 10 minutes... focus on those.
In the end, if I ever get low and don't feel like pharming, I just sell my larges. Oh hang on... that won't work for you.

lvl 20 haggle bard (80+haggle) + inspiration quests/Raids + Multiple toons + vendor = Plat
Today I made 900k plat. This was just spare weapons I had laying around from shroud runs. If you really bang out the quests you can make some serious loot.
Are you selling large scales?

Also, I know it's a 'plat farmer' move, but check the inspired quarter vendor. I picked up a +4 Holy Burst Kama of PG for 17k plat and sold it for 350k in 30 minutes. Lots of new folks vendoring things they can't use not realizing the actual cost of these things. And I would have to agree with running Inspired Quarters hard/elite. Picked up about a mil plat worth of stuff in a few hours the other night. Sunken Parish is a good one with 4 chests, Shipwreck has 5, etc. No matter what you'll get either nice AH stuff or high level vendor trash. Plus, i haven't seen it done, but maybe putting up a LFM offering to sell whatever named items you get from Mindsunder for a set amount. I know I'd pay a pretty penny if someone would pass over a vorpal Dream Edge. Also keep on your raids, especially VOD and Hound. You can pull w/p rapiers, nice khopeshes, etc that you can sell off.

You could just run the shroud a lot and then trade your larges for scales in a 3 for 1 deal.
e.g. 2 or 3 larges for a scale
This also gives you the 20x completions for clensing essences.

You made 900k GOLD from spare weapons laying around from Shroud runs, not 900k plat (unless you had 200-250 or so "spare" weapons laying around).

with a 80+ haggle your getting 50-65kgold for every piece of junk weapon you get
if your not making 1-2 mil gold just casually playing on the weekend your not optimizing the games mechanics, its actually pretty easy

Grab a lvl 20 favored soul or cleric, and just go solo Amrath a lot. You'll grab half the scales you need by the time you make about half the money.
Large ingredient drop rate is very reasonable out there, and you're getting plenty of nice vendor trash as well as boot ingredients that sell for a lot.
And especially with Sins... it's damned hard to ransack all the chests in that one. 8-9 pulls at each of the 6 bosses is easily 48 pulls, + 3 side chests each time.

With 30 haggle, I make about 20-30 plat per shroud 1-4 run.

Got slaughtered by traps on a solo sins run; I've never done the quest before, so I was going by a map and just running. Got hit for 150 by a trap, hit heal, got caught by the stack of mobs, lagged out, dead. Any suggestions?

um, do the quest a few time with a useful group and learn the quest layout, where the traps are, tight spots, ...
you can't just go out and solo high lvl stuff you don't know in and out.

Did you solo it on elite? They hit for about 280ish on elite. I just soloed it on elite last night, and the traps were rough.
On normal, they hit me for like 30 and are irrelevant.
Now, as far as the lagging out, that I can understand. Try to kill them as each group spawns. My machine can't handle zerging it like others do.

There's a good video of a couple clerics going through this quest:

So wait a minnit you can get Large Ingrediants in Amrath? From quests. I must admit my lvl 20 pally has only been there once.. got creamed with a group in our first quest. never really went back much. Is there a good guide for Amrath stuff somewheres?

I find the video run-throughs to generally be a bit more helpful than guides (excepting specific puzzle solutions, etc). To that end, check out Spyderwolf6's youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/spyderwolf6). He's got a LOT of quests posted.

Update:
I sold a full set of +2 tomes on the AH
I sold a few Large Horns (I was surprised to see how much they bring)
I ran Shroud about 7-8 times (didn't get a single scale)
All that, plus the 2 million gold I had on me, was enough to buy 3 large scales....
Then I traded two large stones for a large scale...
So now I only need 3 more large scales... or about 15 million gold....
Seems a lot more reachable than the original 35 million for 7 scales... Slow but steady I guess... Getting tired of the Shroud (plus all my guys are on timer now), so maybe I'll try soloing Sins with a cleric too...

Yep... larges fall out of there. My favored soul basically made his Min II from ingredients I pulled out of there.

I try to just keep all my characters that are able to do shroud on the shroud timer. Its slow going, but its probably less headache-inducing than grinding loot runs out. If you want to do it optimally, and turn it into even more of a grind you could do 3 1-4 runs then complete, then another 3 and complete once your off timer over and over again to maximize your chances at large ingredients.
